State laws targeting transgender people made trans and nonbinary young people more likely to attempt suicide in the past year, according to a first-of-its-kind study.
The research, published last week in the journal Nature Human Behavior and conducted by the Trevor Project, an LGBTQ youth suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization, is the first to establish that such laws directly caused an increase in suicide attempts.
The Trevor Project surveyed more than 60,000 trans and nonbinary young people (ages 13-24) about their mental health from 2018 to 2022, a period in which 19 state governments enacted 48 laws targeting trans people, particularly youth. These included restrictions on transition-related care for minors and laws that bar trans student athletes from playing on the school sports teams that align with their gender identities.
The study compared suicide-related outcomes for trans and nonbinary young people in those 19 states to the outcomes for trans and nonbinary youth in states that did not enact any such laws.

Didn’t take long to get a “study” to show what they wanted it to say.
Oh, BTW, you need to believe THIS “science.” Forget that silly DNA and biology stuff.
Yep, “follow the science”. Arseholes.
“conducted by the Trevor Project”
Oh, gee, I wonder if the study is going to confirm the Trevor Project’s assumptions and biases.
Even if the two concepts are in the same room assigning cause and effect is still shaky. The argument can solidly be made that a person wanting to change genders has already crossed the line for mental stability.
The suicidal study that is really relevant would explore the realization that sexual perversion often results in realization that provokes suicide.
Deviency = death
“State laws targeting transgender people made trans and nonbinary young people more likely to attempt suicide in the past year, according to a first-of-its-kind study.”
How about labeling transgenderism a mental illness resulting in a higher suicide rate?
Did they factor in that there are more and more cautionary videos from the trans-regretters and medical information about what the medical consequences are? Somehow I doubt it. From what I’ve been hearing, learning what others are warning against and what real doctors are saying would depress me if I’d started any of the transitioning procedures.
Emotional blackmail and claims of suicide seem to be a big part of the trans agenda. “Go along with everything we want or we’ll kill ourselves and it’ll be your fault” - this is how disturbed children act.
Nope. Not accepting the premise, that unless Trans people get all they want all the time, with no debate, nor any discouraging word, they will commit mass suicide.
These days there’s science, and then there’s $cience.
Follow the $cience.
Agreed. It's already baked in. The tranny affect is merely a manifestation of that.
Trans kids are remarkably insecure, and are a huge profit center for “therapists”. Suicide is a reality among them already.
Or maybe the fact that they are bat sh*t crazy is why they commit suicide.
How do we know that the ‘trans’ community didn’t encourage suicide after the legal changes?
How do we know it wasn’t the zillion antipsychotics interacting that caused it?
Basically, it’s junk science, put out to try to justify a political position. Sadly, they don’t seem to care about Veteran suicides, just Trans…
Second coaching session: "Make a tepid, non-serious attempt to appear to try to kill yourself."
We’re the ones making the completely sane guy in a dress who thinks he’s a woman, neurotic?
The “study” was a SURVEY. It means that they’re asking ideological individuals whether they agree with their radical ideology. That is all.
The trans people have a tendency to commit suicide BEFORE the transition and they also have a tendency to commit suicide AFTER the transition. Seems like they are just mentally ill and deeply unhappy people. And surgically mutilating their genitals doesn’t cheer them up.
