US Navy warships shot down a barrage of Houthi missiles and drones in the Red Sea on Friday in what a Pentagon spokesperson described as a "complex attack."
Sabrina Singh, the deputy Pentagon spokesperson, said no US warships were damaged or struck by the Houthi munitions, and there were no injuries to American personnel.
"We did see a complex attack launched from the Houthis that ranged from cruise missiles and [drones]," Singh told reporters at a briefing. "My understanding is that those were either engaged and shot down or failed."
The Houthis said earlier that they targeted three Navy warships with nearly two dozen ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones. The Iran-backed rebels claimed to score direct hits on the vessels, although US officials pushed back on this and there's no credible evidence to support it.

Oops, the constant hysterics is Kazan, he is the one who my post fits like a drum, you guys are similar but different, I get you mixed up with those similar names and positions.
The people who control our government do not want to eliminate these people.
For one thing, they are mostly in accordance with the Chinese and the Russians and the Iranians and have no real problem seeing the USA defeated by its' enemies. That defeat hastens the day the oligarchs can impose totalitarian systems on the US population.
Another thing is that effective suppression of Houthi piracy requires killing a very large number of people in Yemen - and Iran, while destroying some major port facilities. We do not have the correct type of forces on station to do that, nor do we have logistics systems that could support them. Nor do we have commanders capable of running such operations. Nor do we have "allies" that would allow such operations in their backyards.
We could not stop Houthi piracy now even if our rulers wanted to do so. There would need to be a lot of changes before that could happen.
OR, these attacks are designed to learn about our response time and capabilities.
The problem is lack of leadership at the top. The Obama crew is very beholden to the backers of the Houthis.
Must be fake news! No service member is in the danger zone according to…./
They simply sail to a friendly port and refuel, or alternatively can be refueled from smaller fuel-carrying Navy ships.
Bingo
LOL! That was a joke, right!?
Perhaps you don’t know this, but Saudi Arabia spent years fighting in Yemen against them and couldn’t defeat them.
Why not ? The Captain can just put the purchase on his VISA Card. Will that be Regular or Premium ? And as long as the men go one by one, they can use the restroom, because it's gonna take a while to fill 'er up. Hope they wash their hands before returning to the ship.
!; )
If you are the one in the line of fire, I doubt if $cost is an important factor to you.
Saudi Arabia spent years fighting in Yemen against them and couldn’t defeat them.
—
That’s because the Saudi troops were mostly occupied with building sex forts.
using a million dollar missile to defeat a 10 thousand dollar drone is a loss in my view
—
Yep cost prohibitive. Since its is only a $10k missile its best to just let it hit the ship. After all, what damage could such a cheap missile do against a billion dollar ship? $10K would just be a damaged paint chip on such an expensive ship. Paint is cheap and it gives the crew something to do beautifying the ship. Gotta keep up appearances, you know.
Why can’t F-18s shoot those drones down with their 20mm cannon?
smaller fuel-carrying Navy ships.

The only one in the area is damaged and being towed to port. There are no others.
Why can’t F-18s shoot those drones down with their 20mm cannon?
—
Because they are hundreds of miles away, not circling overhead.
At 700 kn IAS an F-18 can cover 200 miles in 17 minutes. That is w/o using AF. Going mach about 10 minutes. Drones from Yemen to Israel have a very long time of flight (TOF).

But they will get there 16 minutes late. Missiles have a much shorter flight time, specifically when they get the P-800 Oniks anti-ship missiles.
