Neither Trump nor Zelensky are dim bulbs, so both know concessions will be needed to negotiate but Trump especially also knows that making pre-emptive concessions before negotiations even start is idiotic.
Should Trump, by grace of God, actually take office I would guess Zelensky will have to make concessions but the terms of the deal will not make Putin very happy either.
