Dell Technologies said Thursday that their global sales team employees who are able to work from the company offices must do so five days a week, starting Sept. 30, according to a memo seen by Reuters.
The change is to leverage collaborative environment and “grow skills,” which requires the team to be in the office, the memo said. “Working remotely should be the exception rather than the routine,” it added.
The field representatives from the sales team are expected to spend five days a week with customers and partners, or in the office. The team was previously required to work from the office for three days per week, according to the memo.
“Remote sales team members who can’t go into a Dell office should continue to work remotely,” Dell added.

Even if staff returned to the office, they'll still face the same layoff. Being in the office doesn't guarantee one doesn't get laid off, it just makes HR use a different approach.
But, but. Will I be harassed for wearing my face diaper?
Even if office workers around smell bad and pass gas?
And do people have to wear pants in the office?
Or don’t. That’s just fine.
I love Regus Patoff. He’s my hero.
I am just as effective at home as in the office, without the hassle of the commute, dry cleaning, packing/buying lunch, gas, etc.
Since I’m a COVID long-hauler and now restricted from driving, working from home is my only option and I give it my all.
Some people slouch around and slack off. Being in the office where someone can supervise them is a good way to separate the wheat from the chaff.
Oh no people will have to get up early take a shower in the morning and look presentable. Then drive for an hour in rush hour traffic. People will want to get paid for all that effort before and after work. It’s only fair.
I agree. I’ve been ‘remote’ since long before ccp-19. I wanted to be remote since late last century but it took until 2011 to find a willing employer. i’m much more effective while ‘remote.’
Slowly reeling the serfs back onto the manor...
I'm actually MORE effective at home than I was in the office.
No more distracting people walking by, playing putt-putt in the aisles (Yes, that did happen every day), conference calls on speakerphone, faulty lighting, bad climate control, or any number of other things.
after De took a sledge hammer to one of our computers in their warranty repair shop, at least they bust it up into dozzens of broken pieces...and after we had to sue them to get paid for it since they refused to even respond to customer correspondence
we haven’t purchased a De product since.
they lost a lot of business, that’s for sure
Wow. We buy a lot of Dell, and the only time they repair a server is when we need a motherboard replaced. Otherwise they send the parts, and we do the work. If they do need to replace a MB, they send a technician to our site and perform the work under supervision of our employees.
Once we get a server, it does not leave our premises.
If the Davos crowd had their way, I bet we’d all live in 15-minute cities, take mass-transit, eet zee bugz…and work from home.
It must be terrible nowadays to be forced to work with woke leftist Nazis and assorted control freaks in HR. After the hiring indoctrination process, say the wrong word and you’ll be escorted to your vehicle. Life is just too short for all that.
It sounds like you may have it under control.
We haven’t purchased a Del product in years so I’ve don’t have recent experience with them. Nor will we ever again buy their stuff. At one time Toshiba computers were almost indestructible. We use mostly hp now. Have had some issues but a mile better than De was
These business leaders destroyed their credibility back in 2020 when they allowed a bunch of government Nazis to declare their employees “non-essential” and force them to work from home in the first place.
Of course, as you should be by everyone.
