A prominent secular legal organization has asked the Internal Revenue Service to revoke the tax-exempt status of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association over alleged violation of election law.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation, which advocates for a strict separation of church and state, sent a request to the IRS last week regarding a special edition of the BGEA's Decision magazine that compares the two major party presidential candidates.
According to FFRF, the magazine labels Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris an advocate of "socialism" while Republican former President Donald Trump is labeled a supporter of "freedom."
The group alleges that the BGEA magazine has "a cherry-picked comparison between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump intended to encourage readers to vote for Donald Trump over Kamala Harris."
"It evidences a clear bias and preference for Donald Trump and Republicans in the upcoming elections and is distributed for the purpose of intervening in these elections," stated the FFRF.
The FFRF accuses the BGEA of violating the Internal Revenue Code's prohibition on nonprofit groups taking part "in (including the publishing or distributing of statements), any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office."

I’m okay with this, as I am in removing the taxes exempt status of ALL NGOs.
The vast majority of NGOs do not provide anything of value to the country, most are money laundering scams with political motives.
I also would prohibit the government from funding any NGO. If it’s not an inherently governmental function then the government should not be funding it. It has no authority legal nor moral to levy taxes and expend government funds on pet projects.
Come on NGOs ‘Pay your fair share’.
Just a bully tactic designed to cause them to cower and shut up. Buzz off.
Should the IRS investigate black churches?
Given the current tax code the deduction is meaningless for 90% of American tax payers anyway.
Their "advocacy" only goes after Christian churches that preach against the demonic policies and planks of the Democrat party - because those policies and positions are anti-Christian. If your so-called church or synagogue supports, endorses and provides a platform for the democrat party and its candidates, you will hear nothing from "The Freedom From Religion Foundation". The Freedom From Religion Foundation, like all anti-Christian organizations, is grossly bias and disgusting!
Fair is fair.
Only left-wing churches are allowed to electioneer at the pulpit.
.
sue then FFRC and their 501C3 status and see how they like it.
Yup! Which is absolutely illegal.
“They risk the same happening to a much larger army of Dim supporting groups.”
No they don’t.
Gonna revoke Reverend Al’s tax-exempt status? Louis Farrakhan’s?
NPR, or the secular church of climatism, doese the same exact thing!
Well, I dont have a problem with genuine religious organization exemptions. The Church relies on the tithing of its congregants. Those tithing are already post tax and are for God’s work, not to be taxed again as income for institutions that promote philanthropy.
Godless Commie b— rds!
Indeed. There was a recent post about the low voting rate among Evangelicals. Going after Graham's organization would compel them to action like nothing else that I can imagine.
Sure, just as soon as they revoke the tax-exempt status of every AME black church for acting as an arm of the democrat party.
Of course all those black churches are exempt
