He was an absolutely incompetent, completely uninspiring phony. He was my first Commander-in-Chief; I can't describe how much military morale improved once President Reagan took office.

Carter was actually quite conservative. He was very christian and supported states rights. He kept us out of two wars; that’s why the press hated him so.

Probably the smartest president we ever had, but a little guy and a terrible public speaker. Did not look or sound like a leader.
