Pro-Trump Georgia election board votes to require hand counts of ballots

ATLANTA — The Georgia State Election Board approved a rule Friday requiring counties in the critical presidential battleground to hand-count all ballots this year, potentially upending the November election by delaying reporting of results by weeks if not months.

The change was spearheaded by a pro-Trump majority that has enacted a series of changes to the state’s election rules in recent weeks and approved the hand-count requirement despite a string of public commenters who begged them not to. Critics included democracy advocates who accused the board of intentionally injecting chaos and uncertainty into the presidential contest, as well as election supervisors and poll workers who said hand counts would take too long, cost money and almost certainly produce counting errors. The office of the Republican state attorney general, which is responsible for advising the board, wrote in an opinion that the change was unlawful.

The board voted 3-2 to approve the measure, which would require the hand count in addition to the customary machine count in each precinct. The rule requires the hand count to take place the night of the November election or the next day. But dozens of election officials said that would be physically impossible in all but the smallest counties. Many also said in public comments Friday that it is far too late in the year to adopt new procedures for which their staffs have not been trained and for which they have no funds.

potentially upending the November election by delaying reporting of results by weeks if not months.

Why? There is plenty of time to get the resources in place to get it done that very night.

It won’t take months if its done at the precinct level which is what the rule states. Its just an excuse.

Didn’t take the lefturds long to start whining about this, of course.
They say they don’t have staff and neither do they have procedures in place.
They say it could take weeks, even MONTHS!

Get more people who can count, and get to it. Stop bitching. Start counting (on election day).

Those counting now have gone through the “ new math” where 2+2=5 is a possibility and then they only have 10 fingers. They can’t count higher than that

I was the database manager for Forsyth County, GA FOR THE 2000 Presidential election and we hand-counted our ballots and completed them less than an hour after they were submitted to us from the precincts. It can be done.

I was the database manager for Forsyth County, GA FOR THE 2000 Presidential election and we hand-counted our ballots and completed them less than an hour after they were submitted to us from the precincts. It can be done.

Hand-counted ballots were done in one day long before elections were made more "efficient" with black-box computerized voting machines.

In 2023 a county in Missouri switched over to hand-counting without a hiccup.

https://100percentfedup.com/mo-county-replaces-voting-machines-with-hand-counted-paper-ballots-heres-how-one-person-made-it-happen-and-how-you-can-do-the-same-thing-in-your-state/

Instead of watching their ballots being inserted into a machine that many voters distrust, they instead dropped their ballots into a secure ballot box and trusted the teams of Democrats and Republicans who volunteered to count their ballots, in the open, at the same facility where they voted.

...

Missouri isn’t the only state taking action to get rid of voting machines in their state. In addition to Lousiana,  a quorum in Cleburne County, AK, also made the decision to return to the old-fashioned way of counting ballots after it was determined that voters no longer trust the voting machines that tally their votes.

Officials with the Arkansas Voter Integrity Initiative Inc. (AVII) said the vote was in response to AVII CEO Colonel Conrad Reynolds’ push for election computers to be removed from Arkansas elections.

“The machines do not read the names on the ballots; instead, they scan barcodes, which humans cannot read,” Reynolds said. “They also utilize proprietary software that we are not allowed to examine. This all means voters cannot verify that their vote is being counted properly as mandated by state law.”

It’s funny how they think handcounting is going to take weeks or months. Yet for most of our history this was the way it was done and the results were known almost the same day.

Electronic counting of ballots is only OK if it is being counted by a “Dumb” counting machine. That would be a logic based- No software machine. And if there was the smallest amount of software then every line of code should be inspected and public. It would then be put on a non erasable Prom soldered to the motherboard. It should be able count only and have no knowledge of the actual candidates. It needs to know nothing more than count “Candidate 1”, Candidate 2” ect. And there would be no need to ever update the logic or any software. A purely logic read only port could confirm that the prom had not been messed with. The exact logistics could be worked out. It is entirely possible to create a counting machine that cannot be messed with.

I you go back to even the BUSH Gore fiasco they did use machines to count. But they were dumb machines with no software and you could not program them to cheat. They had to come up with hanging chads and the likes. Also you always had the physical ballots to fall back on if their was an issue.

“They had to come up with hanging chads”
.
“Hanging chads” were the result of someone trying to manually punch through several ballots at once.

The voters’ polling machines would punch-through just fine.

I’d suggested earlier that “Drop boxes” receive harmless dyes to establish any pattern of voter fraud that might develop.

You can bet your last nickle that the DemocRats will challenge this in court under some bullshit pretense of “protecting voter integrity”.
