The gunman who allegedly staked out former President Donald Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course with an SKS rifle was able to exploit a security hole that the Secret Service has known about for years.
News photographers — including those hired by The Post — have had no problem repeatedly securing spots around the perimeter of the course to snap pictures of Trump playing golf or driving around in a golf cart.
They have even taken images — which require a clear line of sight to the 45th president — unnoticed through the bushes with telephoto lenses. Some have gotten as close as 75 yards — without so much as a sideways glance from the Secret Service.
“They’re always amazed how close they can get to Trump and his entourage — it’s easy for them,” one photo agency source told The Post.
Photographers typically announce themselves to the Secret Service so that they are not mistaken for threats.
Authorities say Ryan Wesley Routh got within 300 to 500 yards of Trump after spending 12 hours in a makeshift sniper nest just outside the fence along Summit Boulevard, a busy thoroughfare of Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach.
The golf club — which Trump frequents when he is a staying at Mar-a-Lago — is a sprawling, wide-open expanse covering hundreds of acres, lined with dense tropical foliage and tree cover.
The source said photogs can snag pics of Trump “shockingly easily” at his West Palm Beach course, one noting “dozens” of covert gaps in the thick brush around the border.

The secret service apparently is teeing up attacks, it would be comical if it weren’t so serious.
Maybe “they” had him hide out there knowing that Trump would be playing golf at some point. When Trump said he was going to play golf somebody got the word to the would-be assassin.

Can you imagine the hell of going through this? Wondering if your wife and kids are targeted? Wondering if this is your last day? And all the guy is trying to do is help the country and this scumrat vermin in the media and democrat party never relent in encouraging this. Trump has risked literally everything to save this country: His business, his name, his family, his freedom, and now his life.
Which may be why they were looking there.
Don’t ever doubt the ‘un’intentional occurrences that ALWAYS indicate that, the FBI and DOJ and USSS, and other agencies have towards eliminating Trump from being president again
This latest ‘attempted’ assassination, seems to be part of the ‘plan’. Except that,this was an attempt to regain some of the respect that the USSS used to have. So, they set this up in order to ‘demonstrate’ that they were indeed working to keep Trump safe. BS! It’s out of a movie script. Didn’t believe them the first time, can’t believe them this time.
That fence and bushes need to be replaced with big ass wall.......I hear he can get a great deal on border wall material.

It is appalling that the most recent amateur assassins were able to get as close as they did.
This tells me that a true professional would have had no issues.

Highly recommend the book Zero Fail. The USSS has been f- the dog for years. This is just more of the same.
They need to stop treating Trump like ex-Prez Bush and Carter - he needs a full scale A-team like Kamala - and even that would probably not be enough give the poor management.
Maybe there are a LOT of assassins out there, staked out at likely places, waiting for opportunity?
The SS seem to just ignore the likely sniper places if they are a hassle to examine.
