Pro-Harris Super PAC Launches Abortion Ads in Swing States
Newsweek ^ | Sep 12, 2024 | Hugh Cameron

Kamala Harris's backers are trying to capitalize on one of the vice president's strongest issues, in a new abortion-focused ad aimed at key battleground states.

On Thursday, a Democratic Super PAC launched a series of ads aiming to draw a contrast between the records of Harris and former President Donald Trump on reproductive rights.

In one of these ads, a nurse practitioner from Pennsylvania speaks to the camera and says: "Donald Trump seems dedicated to taking us backwards."

Another, airing in Michigan, features an OB-GYN speaking about her own experiences with abortion.

"When my pregnancy was in crisis, and the child I wanted and loved had a devastating diagnosis, we chose to have an abortion," she says. "Politicians like Donald Trump have no right to make that medical decision for me and my family."

It comes as a poll from Focaldata showed that Trump, while being on track to lose the popular vote (45.9 percent to Harris's 47.5 percent), is set to flip Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, and crucially, Pennsylvania.

The appeals in the ads, interlayed with footage of Trump, urge voters to support Harris in November, who they claim, "believes its women, and not politicians, who should be making their own healthcare decisions."

I do not remember who it was.

But hats off to the Freeper who predicted this.

About a year ago someone here in the FR stated that this will turn into “abortion, abortion, abortion,” for the Democrats.

Boy were they right!

Which is why Trump is saying "leave it up to the states to decide".

So if the states want to have abortion legal, so be it. End of discussion.

They'll make it a federal issue again once they retake the Supreme Court so there'll be another ruling similar to Roe vs Wade.

This is some "Captain Obvious" level prognostication. You don't have to have been Nostradamus to have predicted this. Women have been shouting it from the rooftops for the past 50 years that repealing Roe v. Wade would come to this.

They keep doing this, where they find someone who had a problem pregnancy , and then try to convince us that these problem pregnancies are the only cases where women seek abortions.

And they keep talking about women’s health ,,or healthcare decisions , in conflating abortion with every other conceivable health issue that people have.

You realize that's a losing argument, right?

I'm here to defend the American Constitution. You can kiss that good-bye if Harris wins in November.

I certainly did and so did others here by the dozen...I did state several times that this is just a scare tactic (to be used in multiple states) for the idiots not paying attention. Michigan and other states have passed and signed ballot initiatives into the state’s perspective Constitution. It is state law no matter what the meathead says. The debate is long over.

Pro abortion hysteria is played out, the zealots have had two years to rant, rave, & register voters.

It may actually become a repellent if democrats aren’t seen as being serious about economic issues, immigration, & foreign policy.

“Donald Trump seems dedicated to taking us backwards.”

“Backwards”, in this case, would be to restore Roe v. Wade as “the law of the land”.

Very bad legal decision to begin with, as there was NOTHING Constitutional about how that was decided. Nowhere, NOWHERE, in the Constitution is ANY aspect of health care addressed anywhere, yet in the “adumbrations” and “nuances”, there it was, plain as mist and smoke, for the very astute and sagacious members of a liberal Supreme Court to discern.

This should have been a decision argued and voted upon by state legislatures, not judicial appeal. Tenth Amendment applies here, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

In other words, it may be voted on by state legislatures, but NOT the US Congress. And people elect state legislatures directly.

And in fact, Donald Trump HAS spoken on the options surrounding abortion, and has so stated this a a matter for state legislatures, NOT the Federal government.

Once upon a time, there was a pledge that abortion would be “safe, legal and rare”. Legal it may be, but “safe” and “rare” have been largely forgotten.
