Now where have I heard about making government more efficient before?

Algore! Appears we're going to get "Reinventing Government" redux. Because government reform always works so well. /s

It will work well if Trump + Musk do it.

We don’t need reform.

We need to cut the government wide open (without anesthetic), sever its aorta, and let it bleed out 80% of its government RBCs. Meanwhile amputate various appendages (EPA, DoE, other DoE, DHS, BATF, ...) and remove 50% to 75% of other appendages (CIA, state department, IRS).

Then sew the carcass back up and toss it out back to recover... slowly...

> Former President Donald Trump says he would create a government efficiency commission to audit the entire federal government <

Good idea! But as you noted CL, we’ve seen this movie before. To get anything accomplished, you’ve got to get the majority of the Senate and the House on your side.

Unfortunately, that won’t happen. Both of those bodies are dominated by an evil alliance of Democrats and Deep State Republicans.

No matter. Better to go down swinging than not to fight at all.

Not a bad idea.

The most expensive thing in government is the bureaucracies themselves.

And a good 90% of it is filler.

Of course actually doing it is going to be a major task.

If he can’t take action against government employees who won’t cooperate with the commission, I don’t see how this can go anywhere.

The time honored formula has always been waste/fraud/and abuse. Various commissions have been appointed over the years, none have ever returned savings of any significance. But up until now they have always been staffed by fellow politicians so of course, it has been a charade. Musk just might do it differently.

Probably can't happen....too many conflicts of interest.

But doesn't mean Musk can't write a "How To" book.

He should hire George Costanza to help. George completed that big payroll project for the Yankees in record time. And then he was on that big project with Kruger with all those files and papers. Oh, and don’t forget the accordion file he prepared for Penske.

Efficient would be good.

Constitutional would be better.
