Donald Trump to announce 'complete audit of the federal government' with sweeping plans inspired by Elon Musk

Donald Trump is outlining his economic platform during a speech in New York City on Thursday.

The former president's policies will include billionaire Elon Musk's recommendation to create a government efficiency commission to conduct 'a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government.'

The remarks are meant to more specifically detail Trump's plans for the future of the economy as the issue is often cited by voters as their No. 1 issue this election cycle.

And Trump holds an advantage over Vice President Kamala Harris among voters who think he would better handle the economy and inflation crisis.

Trump's policies are expected to introduce even more aggressive slashing of regulations than he implemented during his first White House term and would likely dramatically rescind unspent funds that President Joe Biden's administration appropriated.

The address comes just five days before Tuesday's debate with Harris in Philadelphia.

'I can't wait. There is a lot of waste and needless regulation in government that needs to go,' Musk tweeted this week amid speculation of his role influencing Trump's economic policies.

Musk suggested that the commission tackle the issue of inflation by addressing government spending.

And the X, Tesla and SpaceX CEO wants this group to 'recommend drastic reform' after an entire government audit.

I think it does help bring in the Kennedy voters and anti-establishment types in general, as well as pleasing fiscal responsibility and small government conservatives. Maybe it won’t bring in many voters in and of itself, but I think it will as a part of a larger whole in regard to Trump’s overall positions and promises.

If you want to absolutely panic the deep state, audit where ALL of the money goes. A full audit. Every unrecognized account or entity to be fleshed out and investigated.

You got that right. Millions, probably billions, of dollars just disappear on a routine basis. Where is it going?

I can’t even begin to imagine how taxpayers are being fleeced with double, triple or quadruple payments, mega over charging for average items and people being paid for not working.

My mother worked at a courthouse in NC. The city did an audit of telephone landlines in the different govt operations and found dozens and dozens of phone lines being paid for that were not in use - just empty phone jacks with telephone numbers associated with that line that were still considered live. DECADES of these lines were being paid monthly. And that was just the communication part of the audits!!!!!

MILITARY gets the biggest budget, well over 30% over spending on useless crap. Or none functioning equipment...union made. Fire The Makers too, never give them another contract. A good 25% of brass need to go, no retirement.

Well, I am old enough to remember the “Grace Commission”...

Grace Commission: "With two thirds of everyone's personal income taxes wasted or not collected, 100 percent of what is collected is absorbed solely by interest on the federal debt and by federal government contributions to transfer payments. In other words, all individual income tax revenues are gone before one nickel is spent on the services that taxpayers expect from their government"

Congress passes the budget bill and authorizes spending the money,
not the president.
All the president can do is to veto the budget,
and shut down the government.

I have been reading Project 2025 because it is branded as evil by the Left (and some here on FR for some reason) and it support elimination of the Department of Education and Public Broadcasting.

Don’t know about the Department of Energy, though...haven’t gotten that far!

Eliminate the Department of Education and fire half of the federal workforce.

A good start. The Department of Education is the delivery system that leftists use to spread their “woke” poison to every school in the country. Someone else added the Department of Energy, which I also agree should go in that initial wave. And I would add the EPA to that list. When it comes to reducing regulation, little would have a bigger positive impact on the economy than abolishing EPA and getting rid of their senseless regulations, especially the phony “climate” regs.

Longer-term (and since Trump doesn’t have to worry about running again), it is necessary to reform all of the welfare-related programs into what they were intended to be, a TEMPORARY safety net for those truly in need. That area of government spending has done enormous damage to certain sectors of the population, making them dependent and non-productive. It is directly responsible for broken families in the black “community”, high crime, and rampant illegal “immigration” (serving as an economic magnet). We need to transition back to a private charity-based social welfare system, not one administered by the government. And I would extend this to some type of legislation (or a constitutional amendment if that’s what it takes) to make it clear that the executive branch does not have the authority to grant economic favors to anyone (such as they keep attempting to do with the student loan forgiveness nonsense). That would deprive democrats of their biggest tool for literally buying votes.

And we can go on and on from there… One of the biggest on my wishlist would be making it impossible for the federal government to deficit spend. If they had to live within their means, as every state does, it would be possible to restrain the size of government by limiting their revenue through tax policy alone. Of course, that doesn’t guarantee that devious leftists wouldn’t once again seduce a gullible populace into reversing course in order to get “free stuff”, but nothing will guarantee that, absent a radical improvement in the character of the average American. And that’s ultimately the real problem with our system of government; for it to succeed requires a populace that is largely religious and therefore self-restrained through an external (God-given) moral code. It’s been a very long time since we’ve had that.

And this is truly what is needed to turn America around. Government must be reduced in size and scope.

This government is what our Founders warned us about. It’s become a colossal controlling costly monster with so many bloated agencies it’s choking the country off.

“No way they can let Trump takes office after he wins the election.”

I’ve felt that way for some time now. If by some odd chance honest voting can out perform the fraud he will win. The next course of action is to not let him take office.

The illegals stealing weapons aren’t doing this to prep for deer season. There will be mass violence.

There may even be a violent coup where Trump is arrested and physically harmed.

That’s if he wins of course, and I don’t like what I’m seeing. I read comments on social media, newspaper comments, video comments, and I am stunned at the amount of brain dead morons siding with Scamala.

I was just debating one idiot on Twitter, she was going through the usual rant how Trump is a con man, now a felon, blah blah blah and I had to remind her that he was already President and who did a better job, him or Biden/Harris? No answer. This is bad though. Trump should be obliterating her in the polls

Unfortunately this will affect Trump support in VA. which has been close. Would have preferred he did this after the election.

immigration? or illegal-immigration?

Are you one of those who have fallen for the democrat definition of “ immigration” which includes illegal or are you referring to the real definition (VISA applications via US Embassy/awaiting approval/entering US with proper documents with the plan to leave before VISA expiration?

Donald Trump is far from supporting illegal immigration which is a BIG issue in 2024 (not immigration)

Good for you! That’s exactly what is needed to be done to win. Maybe no answer from her but she’s thinking about the points you made and more - many people read your posts - surely some of them have since tilted towards or decided to vote for Trump thanks to you on Twitter (X).

I’m celebrating what you did. It can only help our side. Thank you.

Everybody with Twitter and Facebook and other platforms should be doing the same thing
