Donald Trump to announce 'complete audit of the federal government' with sweeping plans inspired by Elon Musk

Donald Trump is outlining his economic platform during a speech in New York City on Thursday.

The former president's policies will include billionaire Elon Musk's recommendation to create a government efficiency commission to conduct 'a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government.'

The remarks are meant to more specifically detail Trump's plans for the future of the economy as the issue is often cited by voters as their No. 1 issue this election cycle.

And Trump holds an advantage over Vice President Kamala Harris among voters who think he would better handle the economy and inflation crisis.

Trump's policies are expected to introduce even more aggressive slashing of regulations than he implemented during his first White House term and would likely dramatically rescind unspent funds that President Joe Biden's administration appropriated.

The address comes just five days before Tuesday's debate with Harris in Philadelphia.

'I can't wait. There is a lot of waste and needless regulation in government that needs to go,' Musk tweeted this week amid speculation of his role influencing Trump's economic policies.

Musk suggested that the commission tackle the issue of inflation by addressing government spending.

And the X, Tesla and SpaceX CEO wants this group to 'recommend drastic reform' after an entire government audit.

Sounds good but the government is so vast and deep a true audit would extend far beyond a Trump presidency. The longer it takes the more chance of accountants and auditors getting paid off or intimidated.

Maybe a more effective course would be to focus on only one alphabet agency and get rid of it. Most people say Dept of Education.

If that was the only thing the trump administration accomplished it would be a HUGE step to fixing this country.

This right here. My hope has always been for Trump to adopt the ”¡afuera!” strategy.

Any taxpayer — Right or Left — would welcome this (though Democrats would need to do so secretly).

Aren’t federal agencies already audited ? Whether they pass or not is a different matter.

I am a big fan of Trump doing this, but not sure why he wants to telegraph this before the election. I don’t think it gains him any votes, and may further resolve the cheat.

On the other hand, IF he gets in and proceeds with an audit, he has the high ground of saying its a campaign promise.

The “Atomic Energy” part could probably be handled by an organization on the scale of a “Commission”. The idea even lends itself to a name ...

Absolutely.

Folks here may not know the story of Catherine Austin Fitts.

She was appointed as FHA Commissioner (part of HUD) by George HW Bush.

She was an investment banker and brilliant with numbers.

She quickly figured out that the HUD balance sheet did not balance—more than a billion dollars had disappeared into thin air.

She had some forensic accountants dig deeply and check her work—and they agreed with her analysis.

She went to the White House and held a meeting with the staff there to get the money back—wherever it had gone.

They listened to her-and then explained to her the “situation”—part of the HUD budget was used to hide Black Budget items from Congress—and she had no “need to know” what they were.

She told them she was going to dig even deeper to find the money—and if they wanted to fight this out in the public square it was “game on”....

It was just a matter of days before Security guards escorted her out of the HUD building and told her to never return.

(These days she is one of those online “crazy conspiracy theorists” that folks around here like to mock.)

The Deep State plays dirty.

Put Elon in a room with the Constitution written on one wall, and a list of Government agencies on another. He’ll know what to do.
When he’s done, I suspect a 90-98% reduction in Government size, scope, and cost could come out of it.
Please let it be so!

“This should SCARE HELL out of just about EVERY POLITICIAN in Wash D.C.”

If he is gets in office, I imagine hearing a lot of announcements from politicians who retire early because they “wish to spend more time with family.”

According to Heritage Foundation only 8% is not involved in Social Security, Medicare, Welfare or Defense. Just the 8% is a lot of room for fraud but if you cut all of it out our problems would not be solved. 10% across the board might be a start but still not enough.

Gotta start somewhere I suppose. You could start with my worthless soil conservation agent and his whole office in our county for all the good and use he is.
