President Biden claimed in a long-winded anecdote on Monday that his great-grandfather was rumored to have been part of a group of coal miners that would kill anti-Catholic mine foremen and lay the dead bodies “on the doorstep” of their families’ homes.
Vice President Kamala Harris nodded along as the 81-year-old president spun the strange yarn during his remarks to union workers in Pittsburgh, Pa., joking that he was “disappointed” to learn that his great-grandfather Edward Francis Blewitt was not a member of the “Molly Maguires.”
“I remember when my great-grandfather was only the second Catholic elected statewide in the state Senate here in Pennsylvania,” Biden began. “And I remember they talked about — when they’d run against him in 1906 — they said, ‘Guess what? He’s a Molly Maguire.’

Is he trying to bring back the old Kinnock lie? All of this needs to be fact checked, since all the “he’s lying “ red flags a re flying ( “no joke.”)

For those of you who remember the tv series "Welcome Back Kotter", Joe Biden has become the Gabe Kotter of American politics:
"Did I ever tell you about my uncle who was eaten by cannibals?", "Did I ever tell you about my great-grandfather who was a coal miner?"

“I didn’t see or read anything about what this. Was he trying to describe how far corruption ran back in his family?”
No. He was suggesting that if you feel oppressed by someone, it’s OK to kill them.

Just a wow-zer. Biden is now pointing to a time when his family was involved in criminal activites. Tracing this back in time, the USG could use this justification to seize all his family-line’s wealth.

It would have been hard for his great-grandfather Edward F. Blewitt to have been a Molly McGuire since he was born in New Orleans, La., in 1859.

Joe's great grandfather was Edward F. Blewitt born in New Orleans, La. in 1859, not even Ireland. Molly McGuires existed from 1862 to 1876. His great-grandfather was 3 when the group was organized. Biden’s great-great-grandfather Patrick Blewitt crossed the Atlantic as a 20-year-old cabin boy in 1848.

I saw that movie, “The Molly Maguires” decades ago. I don’t know how truthful it was.

OK, but did he mention Hannibal Lecter, sharks, invisible US fighter jets, needing ID to buy cereal or how magnets don’t work when they’re wet?
