No matter the outcome of the November elections, it is urgent that there be a widespread recognition that American democracy is in danger and that reforms are essential. No form of government lasts forever, and it would be foolhardy to believe that the United States cannot fall prey to the forces that have ended democracies in many other countries.

Chemerinsky is a far left radical azhole. The constitution was obviously “flawed” in his divine intellect from the day it went into effect. he’s perfectly comfortable with the Judiciary “making” law and believes the 2nd amendment should be thrown out en toto.
He’s always been a charter member of the Lawrence Tribe wing of legal rationality.
Better idea:
Amend the one we already have.
An Amendment is passed by both Houses of Congress
Then it’s passed onto the 50 state legislatures
Get 38 of them to agree (or is it 39?) and it becomes the law of the land.
Who would weild the gavel? An overweight lesbian with pink hair, tatts and a nose ring? I can see it now.
I try to avoid dialog with those who 1) have never read the Constitution, or 2) have read the Constitution and reject it.
New Constitution? They’ll just copy and paste the Communist Manifesto....
True. But liberal’s insist the Constitution is a ‘’living document’’ and that, as they swear up and down gives the government the power to do anything.
From shower illegals with every tax payer funded freebie there is(and screw American citizens) to providing women with an abortion to ‘’free health care’’.
You think it’s flawed now? Wait till these yahoos get through with it.
How ‘bout ignore Erwin Chemerinsky. I sure as hell don’t want Liberal to define what “effective” and “more democratic” government means.
He’s a law school dean.
He was once considered Supreme Court material by ‘rats.
He had a bit of Gaza in his backyard.
My high-speed Internet quota is exhausted.
The communist takeover of our country would consider this there ultimate goal to control us. No free speech, no second amendment, no right to a fair trial due process etc .
Now they support an Article V convention of states to propose amendments to the Constitution?
It's not that the Constitution is "flawed," it's that it was written to be amended over time to adjust for the changes in the dynamics of the world.

Astonishing that a chump like Chemerinsky is a lawyer much less a law professor much less a law dean much less at a ‘prestigious’ law school.
Erwin is not smart enough to realize that he and his ilk would be the first ones on the chopping block once this New Constitution was adopted.
Let me guess: the New Constitution is short on rights, but long on guarantees for good & services and protections agains “bad” stuff (like misinformation). And the Government gets to enact any measure to ensure those good & services are delivered (to its preferred constituency).
Let’s start fresh by reading it and reimplement it as written! Not all the add ons.
Also does this author not know there are 7 or so versions of proposed new constitution already written? All worse ideas than what we currently have.
He does not like the Electoral College, gerrymandering or the filibuster. Throw the whole ancient elitist white man compromise thing out.
If Chemerinsky has a proposal, my default position is “I am opposed to it.” He’s a committed leftist (not the worst of the lot, but a lefty all the same).
“the whole inalienable rights thing which makes the citizen primary
is an impediment to the collectivists dream of making the state primary.”
Yep absolutely.
