Donald Trump signaled that he could vote to end Florida's six-week abortion ban when it comes up in a referendum later this year, as he continues his delicate dance around a key election issue.
In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com he previewed an upcoming announcement on his voting stance by saying that he did not think six weeks was enough time.
But he avoided committing to using the presidential veto if a nationwide federal ban arrived on his desk as president even though his running mate said he would.
~snip~
Trump said he has decided how he will vote.
'Well, I do know, but I do want more than six weeks,' he said in his ornate Mar-a-Lago living room. 'I want more than six weeks.
'I think six weeks is a mistake. And I'll be expressing that soon, but I want more than six weeks.

There will be a lot of people here in a second rationalizing this...
No, correctly.
No way to rationalize this. He’s wrong.
So does that mean I’m going to jump to abortion-now-abortion-forever, let’s-destroy-America Kamala?
HELL NO.
And the context of what Trump said.
Yes...it is a state matter. Read the USSC opinion.
How much longer? You can hear a baby’s heartbeat at 6 weeks. I don’t think he’s fully considered this position.
This will be added to Florida constitution:
Limiting government interference with abortion.— Except as provided in Article X, Section 22, no law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider.
It’s incredible. He’s dismantling left’s attacks one by one.
Excuse me, but honestly, how does Trump have a dog in this hunt? He can vote all he wants as a resident of FL against it but it’s not like HE can completely overthrow it as the presses seems to be insinuating.
Trump is using his tolerant stance on abortion in Florida to signal how moderate he now is.
What many people don’t get is that you have to win first.
And first step to that is admitting that 8 week abortion ban is incredibly unpopular. You don’t win by backing unpopular proposals.
As far as I know....the 6 week law was effective May 2024.
The one hope I have here as Trump marches leftward on abortion is that he is just lying. Lying to get the moderates and childless cat ladies to vote for him. Or at least lay off their abortion rhetoric.
Every STATE needs to decide...we’ve come a LONG way, and the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT needs to allow STATES to make a few decisions. That was what it is all about.
I wish Trump would stay off this subject until he wins the White House. It will still be there then. Now, it’s dynamite.
Tough Shiite.
It has always been a state issue that was usurped unconstitutionally to the federal level for several decades, and is now back where it belongs, constitutionally.
If you don’t like it, amend the constitution.
President Trump is correct. You are incorrect in your belief, IMO.
I’m really getting annoyed with him on this issue. But we need to rid this country of the commies in charge, so he gets my vote.
Yes. Trump’s opposition to this 6 week ban hurt him last year. And it will cost him this year.
Trump said he wanted to remove abortion from the national agenda. He sure is doing a piss poor job of doing so.
The headline is BS... he said he would vote for a 12-week ban... there is no such thing on the ballot.
