Speaker of the House Mike Johnson had to intervene to get former President Donald Trump into Arlington National Cemetery for the third anniversary of the Afghanistan withdrawal with Gold Star families, a family told the Daily Caller.
The Gold Star families, who lost their children during the Biden administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, invited Trump to Arlington National Cemetery. He laid a wreath there for the 13 servicemembers who were killed serving their country in Afghanistan. However, a Gold Star family told the Caller that Arlington National Cemetery was trying to make it difficult for the former President to appear for the ceremony to honor their children, something the families requested.

Arlington National Cemetery told gold star families that they could only be there for a specific time that did not work for everyone’s schedule and were also told the president could not join them at their children’s gravesites, the family told the Caller.
McCaul immediately reached out to Johnson to ask for his assistance with the matter and the Caller is told he continued to track it until it was fixed.

People, particularly the left, think that when we say “deep state” we are implying there is some shadowy conspiracy group. In reality, it’s a very large number of passive aggressive bureaucrats who love nothing more than to throw their limited authority around every chance they get, particularly to progress their political beliefs and biases.
In this case, it sounds like someone whose charge in this universe was to maintain the organized operations of Arlington, and decided this would be a great opportunity to brag quietly among his/her/it bureaucrat comrades how he obstructed a ceremony because it involved Trump.
The Arlington National Cemetery administration has been captured by persons loyal to foreigners in the Deep State.
MAGA winning the 2024 election will be a start. We also need to make sure it’s a turning point.

They stoop to this level, to deny Goldstar families the ability to have a former president who shares their grief be with them on the anniversary of their children’s deaths? The bureaucracy is absolutely massive. Its going to take a herculean effort to dislodge layer upon layer of bureaucracy. Trump will be lucky to make a small dent in it; he only has three years to do this and DC is very good at protecting itself and resisting change. At the same time he will have to deport millions of immigrants. So much to do, so little time.

I suppose in the old days a citizen could call his congressman and complain. But now one congressman represents 700,000 or so people. He’s too busy raising funds to listen to you.
