San Francisco officials weigh in on departure of Elon Musk’s X headquarters: ‘Good riddance’

X owner Elon Musk’s plan to move the social media platform’s headquarters out of San Francisco has some city officials eager to bid farewell to the billionaire’s business.

The outlet noted that San Francisco Mayor London Breed said she had met with Musk “several months ago” but that she didn’t extend offers aimed at keeping X in the city, saying, “I’m not going to beg anybody.”

The report comes after Musk announced last month that he will move the company’s headquarters to Texas in response to a new law enacted by the state of California that prohibits schools from notifying parents if their children want to change their gender identity.

Musk said at the time that X’s headquarters would move to Austin, Texas, while he also announced that SpaceX would relocate its headquarters from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas.

A pedestrian photographing the new stylized 'X' Twitter logo at the company's headquarters in San Francisco 3 “I share the perspective that most San Franciscans have, which is good riddance,” city attorney David Chiu told The New York Times.

He cited the gender identity law as being “the final straw” and attributed the move to “this law and the many others that preceded it...

The billionaire has been critical of policies enabling gender transitions for children and in a recent interview with Dr. Jordan Peterson said he was “essentially tricked into signing documents” for his child Xavier, who now goes by Vivian Jenna Wilson, to be treated with puberty blockers.

“I lost my son, essentially. They call it deadnaming for a reason. The reason it’s called deadnaming is because your son is dead. My son Xavier is dead, killed by the woke mind virus,” Musk said. “I vowed to destroy the woke mind virus after that.”

As I see it, Twitter/X is an almost ideal business. Very low pollution, they are paid by people all around the world, but don’t use ports, highways or railroads for importing or exporting anything, and their workforce is well paid. Customers seldom visit.

Essentially they are an importer of money into SF and California, and all exports are done over wires and radio waves.

Employees are well-paid. Wanting to get rid of this is major league stupid.

Well the Mayor is the first black mayor in S.F…

Kamala’s former client WIllie Brown has that distinction. :)

SF is nuts That’s a huge junk of their tax base

The problem with that is a big chunk of their workforce will follow them to Texas. And, at least half of them will vote democrat. We've already got California license plates all over the place here. Even though some of them say they are republicans who have finally escaped CA, many of them say things like: "I vote republican, but my wife is a liberal. So, our votes just cancel each other out."

Welcome to Texas Elon Musk. California’s loss and Texas’s gain.

Don't bet on it. An awful lot of liberals will be following their jobs straight to Texas.

Austin isn’t much better

Yeah, but the Austin metroplex is surrounded by mostly big conservative areas. They just need to build a moat around the place.

I worked at Apple in Cupertino for a year. The hideous state government is enough to keep me away forever.

YouTuber Metal Leo is very droll, with a dry sense of humor. Perhaps he’s an acquired taste. If you’ve got a mind to, check out his other city-walking videos. He’s on a mission to show how far California cities have fallen.

He’s on our side.

Oh I will look him up. It would be interesting to see what cities he shows. I’ve lived here almost all my life so know pretty much the whole state, I think.

the Mayor is the first black mayor in S.F.

Breed is the first black female mayor. Willie Brown was the city's first black mayor.

SF doesn’t understand geography. Yes, they have a good port, but what else? They can continue to have the port, but all the non-port businesses can easily move elsewhere.

Detroit, but with a big earthquake coming.

I hope the Seattle Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49er like a tin drum. San Francisco needs a harsh beating.

San Francisco is the next Detroit.

Downtown Detroit is much cleaner and nicer than Downtown San Francisco, as has been for nearly the past decade.

“We just drove out the richest man in the world who is well known for being a mega successful entrepreneur and job creator. Yay!” Great job San Francisco. It really says a lot that they’ve taken arguably the most beautiful city in America and turned it into a literal shithole.

LOL! Enjoy your rotting and disappearing tax revenue base. Maybe you can have yard sales of illegal’s trash to supplement you declining tax base.

The founder of Telegram tried to base his company in San Francisco. He got mugged and he couldn't deal with the government trying to sensor him. He opened his company in Dubai or the UAE. It's sad when a Moslum country is more free than America.
