Former President Donald Trump on Thursday called for increased immigration, insisting "we need more people, especially with AI coming."
"We're going to let a lot of people come in, because we need more people, especially with AI coming and all the different things," Trump said. "And the farmers need, everybody needs but we're going to make sure they're not murderers and drug dealers."

What if you’re getting all emotional about political rhetoric?
(remember, there are many posters who pretend to be conservatives, but whose hearts are not with MAGA, and they don’t see the rhetorical content of Trump’s comments, causing them to impulsively jump on the futile bandwagon to tear Trump down)
You say that as if a connection to reality considered necessary here.
CATO is democrat. Illegal immigration was down under Trump.
You’re right the article is not new but ... we really need less legal immigration from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, West Africa, East Africa, and Southeast Asia. And we need less foreign students in our universities and zero from China.
He was never against people having an EV if they want one. He is also not against people having a gas powered vehicle. Why would he be against gas powered vehicles when he wants to drill for oil?
Does it have to be either or? No mandates on what you can drive. That is freedom.
The entirety of military history is punctuated by advancements in technology. On aspect of spying is the acquisition of Research & Development. It doesn’t stop just because we have nukes.
It’s reasonable to assume the Russians wish they went for counter-drone technologies like the US Marine Corps did.
When I was at a five-sided building in Arlington, VA it was laughable how far the US was with cyberwarfare, compared to where our adversaries were. Food for thought.
“Can you understand that interpretation of statements made in a political environment requires looking beyond face value?”
One of Trumps attributes is that he DIDNT talk this way .
He didn’t talk like a politician
Agree!
How many? We don't know, because the teachers are not interested in working or pacing their lessons harder. The exceptions are homeschoolers, charter school kids, and private school kids.
If kids see that their efforts in high school will get them way ahead in college, they will be interested.
The reason the students are not performing is not because of them. It is the teachers who don't challenge them or maintain order and pacing. And it's the parents who let the kids be feral in the first place. Not to let the admin off the hook. They should back the teachers all the time. Expulsion for bad kids.
If you’ve paid attention since 2016, then you know Trump is the world champion of political rhetoric.
What’s the function of political rhetoric? To sow that which will bear political fruit. Think of it as analogous to a chess move. I can explain more, but you should be able to think on your own a little.
I have no tolerance for impulsive, baseless criticism of our champion President. Smells like a hidden agenda.
No, he’s always talked like a politician.
But the difference between Trump and other politicians is he uses his political rhetoric to fool his opponents, while fulfilling his promises to his MAGA supporters.
Whenever you make use of language, or thought, you presume to draw a connection to reality.
The only exceptions are liars and fools.
Scooby Doo.
Open Border Freaks need not apply (or post)
I was never a fan.
Yes, but not how most think. As a model supplies answers, it is also gathering input for new learning. But this only serves to help it answer the same questions better. AI is not yet to a stage where it can think on its own to do something different based on the information it receives. It will still only perform the tasks it was instructed to do.
In a less scary example, let’s say your AI is part of a robot that flips burgers. You can feed it all kinds of data to flip burgers more efficiently and it will make decisions based on that. But if you tell it that you can be more profitable by flipping burgers and chicken sandwiches at the same time, it will still just keep flipping burgers because that’s what it was told to do.
Granted, as things evolve, new and more complex layered programming keeps happening which allows AI to expand on its decision pathways. In future decades, this could become more of a reality. But my point being, we aren’t Skynet yet.
