Trump shares promises for Affordable Care Act, Social Security, Medicare

Former President Donald Trump laid out his economic policies and vision for the country at a rally in North Carolina on Wednesday, promising to keep intact the Affordable Care Act, Social Security and Medicare .

“A lot of people are very devastated by what’s happened with inflation,” Trump said in Asheville. “I gave Harris and Biden an economic miracle and they quickly turned it into an economic nightmare.”

*** Trump discussed his plans for “No Tax on Tips” and “No Tax on Social Security,” calling out Harris – who vists the state on Friday – for announcing a similar no tax on tip plan after Trump.

“To help seniors on fixed incomes who are suffering the ravages of inflation, there will be no tax on Social Security,” Trump said. “With this vote, I will end this injustice.”

Lower health care costs are also in his economic agenda.

Trump promised that, if he is reelected, he will return the country to an “economic boom.”

“From the day I take the oath of office, we will rapidly drive prices down and make America affordable again,” Trump said. “Harris price hikes have cost the typical household $28,000.”

*** Trump promised that his administration will make it a priority to lower inflation.

“On my first day back in the Oval Office, I will sign an executive order directing every Cabinet secretary and agency head to use every tool and authority at their disposal to defeat inflation and bring consumer prices rapidly down,” Trump said. “I will instruct my Cabinet that I expect results within the first 100 days, or much sooner.”

Where have all the fiscal conservatives gone?

Promising to leave Obamacare, Medicare, and Social Security intact all while lowering inflation. What is largely driving inflation is the government spending/printing money. The interest payments on the federal debt now exceeds the defense budget .

Both sides are promising to magically reduce inflation while increasing spending. Who would have thought that by 2024 Bill Clinton would be too conservative not only for the Democratic Party but the Republican as well.

“Actual Medicaid enrollment in 2021 for people below the age of 65 was 71.6 million people.”

“according to CBO’s latest estimates, the cost of the ACA will be $204 billion in 2022: $116 billion from the Medicaid expansion, $78 billion from the [premium tax credits] PTCs, and $10 billion on its Basic Health Program, an alternative to the PTCs for lower-income enrollees in the states of New York and Minnesota.”

“Only 4.5 million people who are lawfully present in the United States lack health insurance and are not eligible for Medicaid, PTCs to buy an exchange plan, or employer-sponsored insurance. This is only 1.7 percent of the American under-65 population and indicates that most people without health insurance have made a voluntary decision to be uninsured.”

“wants to protect Obamacare! What is wrong with him!”

What would you like him (actually Congress) to do instead?

You are either an honorable person or not!

If you are honorable, you honor your promises. Social Security is a promise to Americans that if they pay in, they will be able to take out when they retire.

Instead of pretending it is a conservative thing to cut down the size of Social Security, the real conservative thing is figure out how to better manage Social Security so that those taking out get more.

One thing that needs to be done is cut deport Illegal Aliens and ensure that no fed monies go to them at all. You will open up lots of cash by doing that.

BTW, go away Troll!

You are a charter member of the "I wish it was somebody else but Trump" crowd and anyone checking your posting history will put 1 + 1 together and figure this out.

“Social Security” is thievery and fraud, invented by a fascist democRAT.

Promising to continue committing thievery and fraud is the height of dishonorable behavior.

The HONORABLE thing to do is get government OUT of the business of providing retirement income.

You know this, I know this, we all know this.

The first question is “which politician or group thereof is man enough to do it?” The second question is “are Americans really interested in being free, or are they content to be wards of the State in their old age?”

If the FDA was abolished, all new drugs for the US market would have to be approved by say Health Canada or the EU equivalent of the FDA.

The Canadian/EU drugs would simply be imported into the US and would sell for just marginally more than in Canada or the EU.

Democrats Have No Hope in Battle for Senate Majority
Republicans say Dems ‘need to pitch a perfect game’ to keep GOP from taking over

By Lindsay Wise, Aug. 15, 2024, wsj.com

WASHINGTON—Heading into the Democratic National Convention next week, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is making a bold prediction: Not only will Democrats hold on to their slim Senate majority, they might even expand it.

Schumer’s buoyant mood reflects the renewed hopes of his party after Vice President Kamala Harris replaced President Biden as the party’s 2024 nominee to face off against Republican Donald Trump. Harris has improved the Democratic ticket’s numbers in national polls and surveys of battleground states, bolstering hopes that the party can not only win the White House but also keep its precarious majority in the Senate, which it currently controls 51-49.

“We’re feeling great about our Senate races and about keeping the Senate—and even gaining a seat or two,” Schumer said in an interview before traveling to the Chicago party gathering. The Democratic ticket “is so strong, you’re feeling it in every part of the Democratic Party and every part of the country,” Schumer said.

Republicans scoff at the New York Democrat’s optimism, and election analysts see it as an uphill climb. Republicans are targeting more than a half dozen competitive seats to move to their column, while Democrats are only eyeing two long shots, giving the GOP a clear advantage. Which party controls the Senate will be critical to the next president’s agenda, including the White House’s ability to pass legislation and confirm cabinet officials, judges and other nominees.

Obamacare-GUT IT! Just don’t say it until Jan. 20. One year to come up with a plan effective Jan. 1, 2026. Just make sure it covers EVERYBODY.

Social Security came about after the banks went bust in early 1933 and the stock market sank after 1929.

FDR had lots of older people working to earn the relatively small amount of money they needed and lots of younger folks not working at all.

A young man in the 1930s was happy to finally get a job an older person no longer needed even if it required about a buck taken out of each paycheck.

Today Ma & Pa Altvolk might get $2000/month in Social Security and their children might be paying $1500/month in FICA and SE tax.

Dare Obama to debate JD on the subject just before the congressional vote. Obama might scare enough rinos to keep it in place. Call him out.
