First, this article only gives the DEFENSE LAWYER’s version of what happened, it does not give the officer’s version, which apparently is notably different—Here is a paraphrase/quote from the police report as reported by a local paper:
“Monongah Chief of Police Nathan Lanham says he was patrolling in the area of Bridge Street and Tower Hill Road when he saw Beth Delloma’s jeep with no visible inspection sticker and an expired registration. He says he activated his “marked patrol vehicle’s emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop.”
“Lanham says he approached the vehicle, stated the reason for the stop and requested vehicle registration, driver’s license and proof of insurance. He said Delloma said the documents were at her house, and he told her he would be towing the vehicle and that she was not free to leave.
“He, then, says he asked Delloma to exit the vehicle, and she refused. She then fled from the scene, and he followed her onto Shaver Street, according to court documents. Lanham says she was operating the vehicle in “a manner showing reckless indifference to the safety of others” by “traveling fast down a narrow road in a residential area with children and elderly, driving in a residential yard” before pulling into a driveway on Shaver Street.”
In other words, the EDITED video and the defense lawyer’s comments left out some important details. He was in a “marked” patrol car. Moreover, the video clearly shows that he was wearing an official shirt with “POLICE” written in large letters. Next, he “lit her up” with blue lights. He also told her that he was going to “tow” her vehicle b/c it was unregistered and uninspected. There is also an allegation that she sped off.
The charges were likely dropped b/c the officer may have went overboard in arresting this dope, but she is a dope. Why not hand the officer your driver’s license and registration as requested? Did you think he was a fake cop and would steal your items? I’m sorry, I don’t believe for one second that this woman even requested his ID or, if she did, that he would not have politely provided ID. It sounds to me like she didn’t want her car towed.
When is the guy getting sued for deprivation of rights under color of law?

I took 30 seconds to locate another article that contained snippets of the official police report and not just the DEFENSE LAWYER’s version. According to the police report, the police vehicle was “marked” and he activated his blue “lights.” Hmm, that would suggest to anyone but this dope that he was a police officer. The report also indicates that she refused to exit the vehicle after being told the car would be TOWED—she then took off from the scene after being told not to leave. Finally, the video clearly shows that the officer’s shirt had “POLICE” stamped on it in huge type. This woman is either an abject dope or an abject liar.
As I have said before, if you just cooperate with LE—and be super nice with them—you will often get no ticket, no tow, and 100% of the time no arrest.
Finally, the prosecutor likely dropped the charges b/c the officer went a little overboard in making the arrest. It happens—especially to dopes who drive away from cops.
bert is a well known here on FR as a bootlicker. Cops can do no wrong with him.
None of your lengthy response lessens the fact of your making this straw man argument: “So your point, I guess, is that every American is free to drive away from a police stop because of the one in 10 million chance the cop is an impersonator?”
It is not a “strawman argument.” We can’t tolerate drivers who just decide to ignore lawful police commands because of some claimed irrational fear. This officer was wearing a uniform shirt with “POLICE” emblazoned on it; he was driving a MARKED car; the car had blue/red police lights that were activated; he was wearing a police belt with a gun and other equipment on it; and the stop was in an area with houses, not some remote desert. 99% of the time, these driver/idiots cause the entire problem. I’m not saying that the officer couldn’t have handled it better, but I don’t know all of the facts b/c the video is edited. This idiot driver was lawfully stopped. She was driving an unregistered car. She refused to hand over her license, reg., and insurance information. She refused to get out of the car when ordered to (lawfully). She drove away from the scene. And then she again refused to exit the car after being ordered to multiple times.
Maybe you haven’t been tracking, but she had a legitimate reason to doubt he was a cop, i.e. refusal to show credentials. If he’s an imposter, now he knows her address and becomes a potential stalker. Like cops, women cannot let their guard down. And yes, assaults occur in neighborhoods too.

Actually, I researched the story, b/c the attached news article only gave the version provided by the DEFENSE LAWYER. The police officer had a different take: 1) his police vehicle was “marked” and 2) he activated the blue/red lights on this marked vehicle. He also indicated that she refused to turn over her driver’s license, registration, and insurance information. She refused to exit the car after he told her he was going to TOW it away. She took off on him after being told to stay put. She drove the vehicle away at a high rate of speed.
I’m sorry, but I have been pulled over nearly 20 times in my life and I have had ZERO problems with the police. No arrests, assaults, shootings, tasers, etc. Got a ticket maybe 1 out of 4 times, b/c I’m polite, cooperative, not a troublemaker. And I’m calling official BS that she thought this cop was fake. The cop had on a uniform/shirt stamped “POLICE” in big letters; he was wearing a gun belt with lots of police equipment; he was driving a marked car; the marked car had blue/red police lights; she KNEW that her car was illegal to drive, so the cop’s traffic stop was no surprise; and she was yelling out “I know my rights” when the cop was chasing her down.
Sod Off, Swampy.
do more research... the cop was fired...
MetroNews West Virginia, not the defense lawyer, reported that the cop was “not in a typical uniform or a marked cruiser”. Blue/red lights mean nothing; again you can view countless hours of pretenders on YT that invest thousands into lights, sirens, radios etc. What happened is the cop got butt-hurt that she challenged his authori-tay and took it personally. There is absolutely NO excuse for not providing credentials when requested. That alone blew this case apart and resulted in the dismissal. Sure, the woman might have spun up the situation unnecessarily on her part but the cop is supposed to be the professional, expert in de-escalation. “If you don’t get out of the car I’ll shoot you”. You’ve got to be kidding me. This guy has no business being a cop, much less chief of police.
the lady thought he was because of his appearance and the manner in which he spoke...
every cop that has a problem like this needs to get tested for Testosterone, Adderall/Vyvance, Armodafanil... because a lot of these guys sound like they’re raving lunatics, including the Karens trying to be macho by over compensating with a weapon and mouth that they can’t control.
Kind of like the EF BEE EYE.
I have noticed that Hannity is NO LONGER TALKING ABOUT THE OTHER 99%.
It is said that a fish rots from the head down, but eventually THE WHOLE FISH ROTS!
Did you miss the part where she was MURDERED? The guy went on to rape several more, murdering some before the real police caught him.
I’ve got friends that are city PD, state troopers and a sheriff’s deputy or two so I’m not anti-cop. If the ‘patrol officer’ refuses to show ID, as this woman alledges, maybe it’s because he’s not really a cop.
Nowhere did I say that “most cops are like this”. I said that some cops misbehave, and the so-called “GOOD cops” tend to look the other way when this happens. Cops raid the wrong home causing thousands of dollars damage, investigate themselves and find no wrongdoing ALL THE TIME. There ARE scores of articles about this every year.
The article posted is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to police behaviour. Count yourself lucky you haven’t experienced it, because this happens a LOT more than you realize.
There are some excellent police officers out there that deserve our respect and gratitude, but they are becoming rarer by the day, due to the schism between the citizenry and the police themselves.
Low hiring standards, an “Us versus Them” attitude, the loss of the patrol officer are all contributing factors. So is the bouncing from one department to another of known ill-behaved officers. A cop can be fired by one county and hired by the one next door to continue harassing and collecting from the public.
I have a number of associates that were cops, both military and civilian, and many of them are of the same opinion toward the problems facing police and citizens today.
Having a rage fit and calling me names for pointing this out is not helping the situation in any way.
