Maybe you haven’t been tracking, but she had a legitimate reason to doubt he was a cop, i.e. refusal to show credentials. If he’s an imposter, now he knows her address and becomes a potential stalker. Like cops, women cannot let their guard down. And yes, assaults occur in neighborhoods too.

Actually, I researched the story, b/c the attached news article only gave the version provided by the DEFENSE LAWYER. The police officer had a different take: 1) his police vehicle was “marked” and 2) he activated the blue/red lights on this marked vehicle. He also indicated that she refused to turn over her driver’s license, registration, and insurance information. She refused to exit the car after he told her he was going to TOW it away. She took off on him after being told to stay put. She drove the vehicle away at a high rate of speed.
I’m sorry, but I have been pulled over nearly 20 times in my life and I have had ZERO problems with the police. No arrests, assaults, shootings, tasers, etc. Got a ticket maybe 1 out of 4 times, b/c I’m polite, cooperative, not a troublemaker. And I’m calling official BS that she thought this cop was fake. The cop had on a uniform/shirt stamped “POLICE” in big letters; he was wearing a gun belt with lots of police equipment; he was driving a marked car; the marked car had blue/red police lights; she KNEW that her car was illegal to drive, so the cop’s traffic stop was no surprise; and she was yelling out “I know my rights” when the cop was chasing her down.
