'Everything in Britain is collapsing' as EU nationals flock back to the continent
Birmingham Mail UK ^ | 08 07 2024 | Ethan Blackshaw

Posted on 08/09/2024 7:41:36 AM PDT by yesthatjallen

EU expats are returning to the continent as "everything in Britain is collapsing", says a Polish national still living here.

Tomasz Orynski, a Polish freelance journalist who left Britain less than two years ago after a 17-year stay, shared a conversation on X (formerly Twitter) this week with a friend still residing in Glasgow.

His friend revealed plans to move back to Poland soon and said some had already gone back to the EU, citing various reasons - from the cost of living crisis to healthcare access issues.

The friend claimed to be "the only person in her work who still has access to a dentist", as dental surgeries are "so overwhelmed" they're turning away patients - "even privately".

In Battlefield, Glasgow, where both Tomasz and his friend once lived, she told him rents have skyrocketed to the point where even those earning more than them "can't afford to live there". Tomasz's friend lamented: "Everything is so bloody expensive that even though I make £60,000 in my current job I feel just as when I was making less than £35,000 in the last one." The journalist added that some of his other friends still in Scotland "haven't seen a pay rise for five years now".

policy proposal from my profile page:

AFFORDABLE DENTISTRY

Two-year higher education programs and licensing options would be provided for:
1. basic dentistry: dental imaging, oral examination, extractions, cavity filling and crowns
2. implants
3. dentures
4. root canals

One-year higher education programs and licensing options would be provided for independent dental imaging, oral examination and dental hygiene for those persons with over $40000 in paid dental hygiene earned income.

The sun has long set on Britain. Does anyone believe there will be a monarchy for Prince George?

The invaders can be laid at Queen Victoria’s feet with her love of all things, and people, Middle Eastern. It has only gotten worse with QE and Chuckles. My jaw dropped yesterday when watching a youtube from a guy who has viewed Charles as not having a single fault go all out on him for not protecting the faith or the country.

The Monarchy could end this. He\she has the authority to do this within the Monarchy’s reserved powers. They would have to have an actual King to do this! In the Monarchy’s reserved powers:

1. To appoint a prime minister of his [her] own choosing. This was last done in Britain in 1963 when Elizabeth II appointed Sir Alec Douglas-Home as prime minister, on the advice of outgoing Harold Macmillan.

2. Dismiss the entire government. To dismiss a prime minister and his or her government on the monarch’s own authority. This was last done in Britain in 1834 by King William IV.

Also, as a last resort the Monarchy commands the armed forces!

Monarchy ought to do something like this if it’s going to survive. Present trends say it’s going to be dismissed as irrelevant. If it’s going to go, it might as well go out in a blaze of glory by standing by the people of those isles. Do what Alfred did when he raised the royal standard at Somerset. If you’re going to go, go in a way you’ll be remembered.

"Socialized medicine can work to some extent, provided most of the population are makers, not takers."

Allow me to reword this for you: "Socialized medicine can't work."

Your sentence obscures the fact that socialism causes "makers" to become "takers", resulting in the eventual failure of the system.

Here in the U.S. the consequences of years of socialism are about to be felt in ways thought unlikely just a few short years ago. The effect of the shortfall in resources is only beginning the decline of the dollar. There is no painless way to reverse this. Nor will it be painless to do nothing.

Kamala’s Indian mother with her student visa (yeah, we know about those from 9/11) immediately decided to become an activist rather than try to assimilate or just get through her schooling. She was kicked out of the US and fled to Canada with Kamala. So, why? The story is her visa expired. Really? We hand out and renew student visas like candy. Kamala’s daddy, who doesn’t get along with her, wasn’t kicked out so what’s the real story. Perhaps her hatred of America and her Marxism she taught Kamala?

Take street view look down Whitechapel St. in London. Jack the Ripper wouldn’t recognize the residents.

They’re allowing unchecked illegal immigration. It’s causing crime, a housing crisis, public services to be stretched too thin, all while requiring them to cost more.

So long as it doesn’t affect the elites it won’t change. They don’t represent the people. They’re at boiling point...at demonstrated by the recent, nation wide, riots.

It’s going to get far worse and the coming civil war isn’t going to be isolated to the UK. It’ll spread to the rest of Europe, they’re in similar situations.

Even Reagan endorsed a "safety net" for the "truly needy."

BTW, those two terms were coined by Reagan or his speech writers. You hear them a lot these days, but not before the Reagan Era.

Two years ago I spoke with a legal Polish immigrant living in a hostel. He told me he was living in the hostel because he had to move when the surge of illegal migrants had filled all the economically available apartments and hotels. He was working on going back to Poland. Regular order of migration, in amounts able to be assimilated, is the only way to keep order.

“Socialized medicine apparently works in Israel, which has no Third World migrant influx (and granted, is a nation heavily subsidized by Germany and the U.S.).”

Israel is unusual in another way: 18.5% of its population is Muslim, a higher percentage than France, England, Italy, etc.

Yet they have virtually no problems, the Muslims work, vote and attend their mosques in peace.

Agreed. You can’t have both. But we need to add to that the cultural changes that destigmatized immorality, lawbreaking and idlers which also burdens the society. There’s only so much pressure any society can withstand without cracking. My concern is that the British might actually do something about immigration only to find it is only a small part of the problem. It needs to rebuilt families, reinstitute the concept of shame and honor (honour for them I guess) and the work ethic and that is not so easily accomplished with walls or blockades.

Exactly. Milton Friedman said that back in the late 90's. What happens is the supply of immigrants becomes infinite and resources are not. I don't think even Friedman imagined a time when immigration would be used deliberately as a weapon to collapse Western civilization as appears to the case these days.

“provided most of the population are makers, not takers”

Used to work with a Danish company and learned that the Danish system worked largely because they were NOT diverse, that all Danes were raised to understand that their social safety net was there to help them when needed, not to live off. If you lost your job, you hustled to find another so that you would not be a burden on the safety net.

The migrants are there to take everything they can, with no regard to the Danish social contract. Took them a while to admit that, but Denmark has tightened up on immigration. Wish we were that smart.

The UK has there own version of RINOs who did all they could to sabotage Brexit, open the border and allow no go zones.

If Diversity was strength there would still be an Austria-Hungarian Empire. If it had continued it might have been a counter weight to Hitler and Nazi Germany and perhaps had kept WW II from happening.

Sitting here in my bunker in the former Great Britain, I might comment:
1. everything in Britain is collapsing - it certainly feels that way
2. some had already gone back to the EU, citing various reasons - but the UK Birmingham Mail doesn’t mention immigration as one of those reasons
3. £60,000 - most Brits would be very very happy to earn a salary like that
4. the Poles may be content to escape back to Poland but there are an awful lot of immigrants from other places who have no intention of going home and will who be very very unhappy indeed when the welfare state runs out of other peoples money.

All those invading "migrants" have bad teeth, so go there for free medical and dental. What a bargain! No wonder the "migrants" won't leave.
