[Rasmussen] Election 2024: Trump 49%, Harris 44%, RFK Jr. 3%
Rasmussen Reports ^ | August 8, 2024 | Rasmussen Reports

Former President Donald Trump has maintained his lead over Vice President Kamala Harris, and support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s independent campaign continues to decline.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that, in a two-way matchup, 49% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for Trump, while 44% would vote for Harris. Four percent (4%) say they’d vote for some other candidate and three percent (3%) are undecided. These findings are nearly unchanged from a week ago, which was the second survey since President Joe Biden announced he would withdraw his reelection bid.

I hope that for now the Trump campaign will go all out against Walz and tying him to KH. Easily the most leftist ticket ever.
Remembering when Eagleton had to withdraw as VP and they brought in Sargent Shriver. That was a total disaster.

Walz is close to being as bad.

The best shot may have happened in Butler. When you look at it, you have to save yourself. Trump has luck on his side right now. He couldn’t have been any luckier than he was in Butler for Kamala to pick this dork for vice president. What a gift. Or i’d rather be lucky than good.

The possibility that Harris has anything over 15% should scare the bejesus out of everyone . . .

Apparently he and his wife never shared the same bedroom, she became pregnant through IVF.

Of course, America 2024, this is to be celebrated and will probably help him.

More importantly the poll shows that Trump is holding steady despite the love fest by the media for Harris.

Nothing much we didn’t already know. He is a staunch advocate of the LGBTQ+ and has sponsored many pro-LGBTQ+ laws, but there are rumors coming out of Nebraska, where he was a football coach, that there may have been some smoke surrounding a couple of kids at his school. You know what they say about smoke... We’ll probably hear more about in the next few days. His old Army buddies are beginning to speak out about him as well.

It’s instructive to know that Ras polls for “likely voters,” like... the people who will be voting.

I have not been able to see the cross tabs for Rasmussen.

I think it is behind a paywall.

The fact they have such a constant number is reassuring they did not change their turnout model.

The reason a constant number is so credible is that the vast majority of Dem voters are voting against Trump. They didn’t care who their candidate is or was. They didn’t even care about the debate. Trump hatred.

So things like Biden dropping out would not move the needle, and as far as I have seen it has not moved the needle. There are crosstab issues with every poll that showed a change.

CBS News explicitly said they were going to oversample blacks (meaning sample them above their turnout model).

Marist is a lot more subtle. They elevated their raw turnout number from a week or two prior from 76% to 87%. (meaning those who say they absolutely will vote as a % of Registered — sort of the ultimate LV) I can’t figure out what that is for. Turnout was 67% in 2020 and that was with all the VBM procedures in place.

CNBC’s cross tabs today are not yet visible. From last month, nothing looked bizarre. T+2 last month and T+2 today.

Doesn’t matter. This election will be solely about visceral hatred for Trump, who has evaded Democrats’ every attack quite literally. This makes them even angrier.

The Dems would vote for a rotting hog carcass on the side of the road in the heat of Summer if it was the nominee running against Trump.

His wife is from Minnesota. He knew his B.S. would not sell in Nebraska politics so he moved to MN to run for office.

Yep, he professes to have been a football coach in Nebraska and led his team to a State Championship. He was a linebackers (assistant) coach, who would be one of several assistants. I’ll bet the Head Coach would be surprised to hear Walz led the team to a championship rather than the Head Coach. Sounds like more Stolen Valor to me.

Wiki has a pretty good summary page of various polls in 2016, link below. Makes an interesting comparison to the current race.

These were polls about the popular vote, not state polls or Electoral College predictions.

Basically, the polls tightened just before the election, many showing Hillary +3, which was fairly accurate as far as the nationwide popular vote.

By mid-Oct to late Oct. many of the polls were garbage, trying to pump up the Dems and discourage Republicans. There were multiple major polls that had Hillary +10, or +13 or even +15.

If Heels Up polls +2 or +3, that’s comparable to Hillary. If Trump is even, or ahead, then that’s really bad news for Dems.
