My response: Its also more than you can say about Harris. And BTW, I bet Trump has been shot at more than Walz.
Any day after 20 years, you can request to retire. The national guard could have said no. And we’re talking Iraq who nobody thinks was a success of any kind. One of Bush’s screw ups.
He’s been described as a “decorated” veteran. He never saw combat, resigned, conveniently, just before his unit deployed.
I have a close friend who is a full-time Master Sargent in the US Army National Guard. He has been deployed to Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan (2x). He could have retired before his last deployment, but he stayed, and he is still in.
Did he flee in a Swiftboat ?

My first wife tried talking me into pulling my Family Care Packet, before the first Gulf War. She didn’t want me to go. Doing such, I would have been non-deployable. Her request was refused due to commitment and having all those soldiers under me.
All said and done, I came home to an empty house and bank account.
To me, this Waltz is a piece of excrement.
