The Ukraine war will end in a surrender, not in a negotiated deal. That is my sense of where the war is headed and why the parties cannot negotiate a settlement.

Agree. My guess is that the US election results will have a lot to do with Ukraine’s actions on the battlefield.

Vegetable head Joe’s scheme- it backfired hugely…confiscating a sovereign nation’s money ( without a trial) has deep consequences. The result: countries around the world are dumping US held assets ( mainly Treasuries and Bonds) , repatriating their Gold, for fear of receiving the same “ treatment “.
Now the facts: their scheme of confiscation was discarded once they realized how big they “*ucked up”. Instead, they have confiscated the interest on the frozen assets.
Effect: the Brics developing their MBridge Unit- backed 40 percent by Gold. As of today, 78 countries have signed up to become members of Brics and are dumping what keeps the US alive- US bonds and Treasuries. China, India ( and Japan) are selling all there US debt instruments. We are toast.

A further note on our demise: the Fed now has to buy the $ 7 trillion of debt ( some greats say $11 trillion) that rolls over by December……we just popped over $35 trillion in debt, add to it that is now just over $1 trillion in INTEREST payments alone……we could see our $35 trillion hit $ 38 trillion by December….
Can you say DEFAULT? It is a mathematical certainty. Prepare accordingly.
Do note, history shows a 40 percent average increase in inflation during wartime, and an absurd amount of taxes instated…….Trump inherits a huge mess, with no easy way out….record inflation, default, currency crisis ( can you say Venezuela, or Argentina?)….very, very hard times ahead.
Yes. The most recent I know of is Tet 1968. I think one of the 1948 Israeli offensives in their war of independence was timed for that too.
Nonsense. The Tet offensive was timed, like many other military attacks, to take advantage of the holiday, like Trenton in 1776, or the 1973 Yom Kippur War, or 10/7. The psychological part you’re talking about is hindsight. I don’t know what you mean by 1948, those were just normal counterattacks.
You assume the timing of strategic offensives is based on only one factor. The Tet offensive was timed for maximum psychological affect on American public opinion and it well succeeded in that. I was in college then and the CIA was trying to recruit me. The recruiter and I agreed about the Tet Offensive’s timing.
Nonsense. Very few Americans were aware of the Tet holiday and wouldn’t care. Like I said, it was timed to take advantage of the laxness from the holiday. It was a total military failure, and your so-called psychological effects were byproducts, not the goal. Just stop, your argument is just weak. In all of military history, you can come up with just one weak case to support your ludicrous claim.
