Former Trump senior advisor Christian Whiton has weighed in on why US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are at odds over their first head-to-head debate.
The Harris campaign is pushing for a debate to take place on ABC News but Trump says the ABC debate has been “terminated”.
Instead, the former US president is pushing for a Fox News debate with Ms Harris on September 4.
“I don't know why Harris is concerned,” Mr Whiton said.
“The two debate moderators who are proposed are considered very fair and frankly would throw some hard balls at Donald Trump.
“So I think Kamala Harris, they're trying to pull a Biden, they're trying to see if she can pull ahead in the polls with the help of the media and by not exposing yourself to the public except in very carefull circumstances. But if the polls aren't looking good ,I think that will push her out of desperation to accept a debate.”

All very valid points. They know she has terrible, rambling answers. They need a carefully coordinated venue and program to keep her shortcomings hidden.

Who are the two debate moderators?
Any Democrat should be worried to debate Trump. He is a mix master of a debater. One misstep and he’s all over you. Kamila has few debate skills and is facing a man who will give no quarter. She should be concerned. I would be concerned if I had to debate Trump!
She can’t articulate why the Fox debate shouldn’t happen. It’s a classic negotiating technique, put Harris on the defensive and make her see things your way. Then just like that Kamala will start feeling overwhemlmed and suggest the the very deal Trump was looking for all along: a debate on Fox and multiple debates.

She has cut her throat by refusing this debate.
It’s done. No further debates. She was given a chance and said no. Done.
As for what we want to see and how she will be embarrassed blah blah, ABSOLUTELY NOT.
This is about victory. It’s not about good television and seeing things you enjoy wanting entertainment.
Trump’s polling remains solid. Nothing has changed. Each poll so far is showing nearly no change from its previous sampling. We don’t care what polls look like against each other. Only against their own previous sampling — and this is showing no change.
The debates are done. He even gave her a chance (he should not have given her) and she foolishly said no.
RUN OUT THE CLOCK.
The left seemingly has to keep up their thirty year old meme that Fox news is ‘conservative’, despite it having become patently and obviously untrue for the last decade.
Thus the left still pretends that Fox would be biased against them, and will pretend to fear a debate on and moderated by Fox personalities.

Letting ABC conduct the debate would have guaranteed that Kamala could just stand up there and file her nails or something while the lefty “moderators” did her work for her. I’m so sick of Republicans letting them get away with that BS. And I can’t believe no Republican candidate has ever had the guts to stop them when they try that and say, “If YOU wanted to debate me, you should have run for President, but until then how about you stay in your lane and stop trying to assist my opponent?”
Because she has the IQ of a carrot and The Donald never got the memo about not pressing your advantage if you’re GOP?
We need to watch the debate between her and Pence again to see how she performed.

It’s very frustrating. The Republican party loves throwing their candidates into the lions den. It’s unfair to the candidates and it’s unfair to the voters.
