When former President Donald J. Trump questioned Vice President Kamala Harris’s racial identity on Wednesday, he lifted a longstanding and false line of attack from the fringes of political discourse to the very center of a presidential campaign.
For years, rivals and critics have lodged accusations that Ms. Harris shifts her personal identity to her political advantage, and that she is, in fact, not who she claims to be. Those attacks, based on falsehoods, misinformation and conspiratorial notions, have increased dramatically in the week and a half since she emerged as the Democrats’ all-but-certain standard-bearer.
Just hours after President Biden announced that he would not seek a second term, the right-wing agitator Laura Loomer posted on the social media site X that Ms. Harris “pretends to be black” as part of what she called a “delusional, Democrat DEI quota.”

I think we are seeing peak KamelToe right now. It is all downhill for the SF Slut from now on.
But Harris has made her race, gender, and ethnicity central to her campaign. In fact, it has been her identity and MO ever since she got into politics.
Pandering just doesn’t work. Ask “I’ve come to far” Clinton. The “reporter” clearly caught flat footed when she said “ nobody ever said Harris was Indian “. Clearly a lie. When the Black Harris showed up in Atlanta complete with a southern accent it was a little too much. Harris had a pretty good upper middle income. Claiming the Black experience in America ,will it work?
Heard this morning her dad said he was Indian and Irish. Her mom was Indian.

Trump likes going into the lions’ den. That audience was hostile to the younger Bush. I heard what the “moderator” said, haranguing Trump in her first “question.” I would have reacted far more vehemently than Trump did. If anything, he should be commended for his restraint.

There is no one on FR who believes Trumps assertion that until recently Kammie was holding herself out as Indian. 95%+ of people here would have said she held herself off as black going back to the Willie Brown days. Trump’s statement was awful and is easy to mock. Getting yourself back into the news cycle based on a stmt that can easily be called rassis, is not genius.

Oh please. Harris has been forever identified as an Indian American when she was a US Senator and VP. She’s only identifying now as being a “black” woman because it is politically advantageous for her. To see her recently in Atlanta in front of a largely black audience speaking with a black southern cadence, when she has never lived one day in the south nor has ever spoken in public that way, was cringeworthy. Trump’s statement is questioning her authenticity, and whether you agree with it or not, it’s making its mark in black communities where a growing number of people are questioning her newfound “blackness”.!

But the American people witnessed with the exit of Biden, what the mainstream media has been doing to them for the past three and half years... Lying to them. it can if put into the long list of flip flops but probably at the end of the list. people have to be made to worry about which Kamala might rule the roost if a winner. there are a lot of issues on that list where R positions dominate so should be emphaasized.
