The wealthy sanctuary state that's going broke under its $1.8 trillion migrant 'time bomb'
daily mail ^

It's one of the wealthiest states in America, with residents of its fanciest zip code luxuriating in $3 million red-brick apartments.

But the writing is on the wall for Massachusetts, says an alarming new study.

The 50,000 non-legal migrants who've entered the state since Joe Biden became president are putting a costly strain on schools, healthcare, and other services.

Jessica Vaughan, author of the report for the Center for Immigration Studies, says the state is destined for bankruptcy.

That's because migrants will drain state coffers of a staggering $1.8 trillion over the next two years.

Even though some non-legal migrants will work and pay taxes, this revenue will not come close to the cost of social services for all 355,000 of them, says Vaughan.

'These migrants represent a looming fiscal disaster for taxpayers in Massachusetts,' Vaughan told the Mail.

'Even if they are working, they are not equipped with skills and education to avoid being a drain on public coffers.'

Her report comes amid a testy 2024 presidential race, with Republican nominee Donald Trump using immigration as a weapon against his rival, the Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.

Though more than 2,000 miles from the southern border, Massachusetts has seen some 50,000 newcomer illegal migrants since January 2021, says the study.

If a state goes bankrupt there is no constitutional or legal
requirement for the feds to bail them out.

This bovine excretion would stop if the feds said no more bailouts. If you hold state bonds for MA or CA then you should lose your money when the state goes belly up.

That said, we all know the feds will print more funny money and start bailing. The blue states are going to take us down with them.

2 trillion divided by 500,000 would be 4 million each.
Of course, they do tend to reproduce rapidly with all those benefits.

We moved out of Boston, Mass 35 years ago because of the politics.
It was easy to see the meltdown coming, and here it is.

The public appearances of their governor are shrill and panic-filled.
One of the oldest hospitals in Boston, The Carney in Dorchester, announced it is closing, and it’s an immediate emergency. Thousands of Bostonians rely on the Carney for healthcare, and there’s nothing to fill the void.
City politicians are freaking out, but there’s nowhere to go. Governor Healey has announced a 30 million dollar bridge loan to stop the closing, but this is a pittance compared to what’s needed.
Their sanctuary status is going to bankrupt the state, and much sooner than expected. There’s another hospital in the Worcester region that’s facing the same crisis. Thousands of non English speaking and non paying patients overwhelming their resources.
Hospitals are being overwhelmed with third world migrants who have never been vaccinated for anything, and are in need of every form of basic healthcare.
Hundreds of thousands of people.
Stupid, stupid, stupid people, letting all these immigrants in without vetting them, or screening them for diseases.

This was all Obama’s idea. Listen to his speeches from 10 and 15 years ago.
He said he was going to do exactly this, and here it is.

I was born and raised in Boston, and I’m SO glad that I got out when I did.

'Even if they are working, they are not equipped with skills and education to avoid being a drain on public coffers.'

Nor the demeanor or state of mind. Most of these economic refugees are really nothing more than the slags that their own countries couldn't deal with - a DRAIN on their resources. The first things they learn here are how to STAY here, apply for SNAP, WICs Housing (Section 8) TANF, SSI and all that. And while doing that, they're hard at work on doing jobs that don't make them pay taxes, SS or any of that.

You’re not factoring the bloated bureaucracy that’s feasting on the crisis.

Well, they voted for it. And they’ll probably vote for it again in November by an overwhelming margin.

Couldn’t happen to a better State. Lived in Upton a few years, when it was still livable. Hope they enjoy their permanent newcomers.

All staging of Illegal Aliens for deportation under Trump, should be in New England.

Oh, no.

Leave NH out of it.

MA and VT, sure. Even parts of ME, although it's mostly Portland that is destroying that state. So Portland, fine.

Just for the record, as I drive through VT, I actually see more Trump signs than biden signs (almost none).

As a rule, the rural folks even in VT lean more conservative the city folks. They're just outnumbered.

“That comes out to $5 million / head. I don’t buy the math.”

Study cites “state officials”. Their budget is $57.8 billion. No way is the $1.8 trillion a true figure.

“The simple solution is to raise all taxes by 100%. Lots of wealth in that state, so ALL should feel great.”

That wouldn’t cover a tenth of it.

Just like nearby Springfield Ohio, (Haitian migrants 15-20,000 in a population of 60,000) they (local .gov and NGOs) will ask the Feds to send more money.
You should see the looks I get when I say Money is Fungible! 🤦‍♂️

I was going to say I have no idea, and then I realized that wasn’t right, that I fully understand what is going on in Massachusetts.

It is a beautiful state with forests, oceans, museums, history...and it is run by Leftists.

Right now there is a radical POS homosexual Leftist and her ideological allies running the state with an iron fist, they don’t give two craps what the population wants, they know what they want and are going for it.

Reminds me of California without the moderate weather.

What is happening right away is the strain and drain on the state. Of course the state and federal govt knew they could not afford them. The little amount of taxes they pay doesn’t come close to matching the amount of money in resources being used to support them. But, they chose to do it anyways

Imagine running a business so irresponsibly. Imagine what would happen if a family charged their credit card to help every Tom, Dick, or Harry … (instead of their own family). They’d be homeless due to losing everything from bankruptcy.

The decisions being made are so fiscally irresponsible and devastating to the the citizens of Massachusetts. It’s equally dangerous due to the lack of proper vetting.

The state officials obviously knew this would happen when they decided to become a Sanctuary State.

You asked for it. You got it.

“never been vaccinated for anything”

In the last few years there has been a fall-off.

I suspect the young adult invaders are quite well vaccinated.
