Hey Californians because you live in California and vote for democrats soon you will be paying even more ( not less) and you’ll be tolerating brownouts on top of it. These are the benefits of being good and woke and democrat.

I find this difficult to believe, but then again we quite gratefully do not live in communist paradise.

This is either a billing error or PG&E is trying to compensate for losses elsewhere. If they are stuck with unproductive windmill and solar panel adventures, then that’s the likely cause. Also they have a ton of freeloaders out there not paying their bills.

Regardless of actual cause, Kalifornia’s loony left is the root cause. And they are exporting this to the rest of the nation and have been since the 60’s.

This all can not be due to incompetence in our elected leaders, it has to be by design.

It is not going to get better until Democrats (and environmentalist) are no longer in charge.

Thank you for referencing that article lowbridge.

"Fresno restaurant owner hit with $21,000 PG&E bill for one month, nearly double his rent"

California not only needs to rewrite its poorly written constitution to make it more difficult for alleged organized crime to run the state, but all Democratic and Republican Trump supporters in the country need to do the following for oppressed California tax and bill payers.

Trump supporters need to support him with a new federal lawmakers in November, not only so that he will not be a lame duck president from the first day of his second term, the new Congress actually doing its duty to guarantee each state, California in this example, a republican form of government.

"Article IV, Section 4: The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government [emphases added], and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence."

Finally, let's not allow the anti-Trump media try to fade our memories of what we witnessed on July 13.

I wonder if the rates are so high because of the huge demand for electricity from giant computer server farms; or, because responses to environmental/global warming concerns come with much higher costs for power generation; or, because the utilities have high transmission costs to deal with omnipresent wildfire dangers and resulting disaster costs; etc...

Do the tech companies get special breaks on electricity costs compared to residential and small business customers?

Paying for the massive lawsuits filed over the fires they claimed PG&E caused with faulty lines in heavy winds!! I have a 600sq. ft. Condo my electric bill 3 years ago in the summer was $250.00 with the AC, NOW it is $525.00, I think I am going to have to break down and buy a mini split, the cost of running them is supposed to be far more economical but the damn things cost $7,000.00 installed!! I am looking into purchasing the unit in Mexico and then having someone install it!! I LOVE the weather in CA. HOWEVER this state definitely SUCKS!!

Much of the money is to pay for state pensions. I am sure the democrats siphon off the money for other projects unrelated to fixing the electric utility.

Anyone backing electric vehicles is an idiot since this sort of liberal and monopolistic electricity pricing model was easily forecast by many of us years ago.

SoCal Edison’s bill is broken into two parts - energy delivery (where medical/low income discounts are applied) and energy generation (where no discounts are applied, effectively wiping out the delivery discount). Tier Two bills at a rate of $0.42/kWh for winter use. The domestic ‘first tier’ allowance is 251kWh; medical allowance is 957kWh.

From our May house bill:
948kWh x $0.17420 = $165.15 - Tier One Delivery Charge with Medical allowance, Winter
948kWh x $0.14921 = $141.45 - Tier One Generation Charge, Winter

Commercial rates for our barn: (1 fridge, 1 deepfreeze, 1 exterior, 1 interior light)
Max threshold demand 20kWh
Super Off peak = 18kWh x $0.17444
Off peak = 55kWh x $0.25273
Mid peak = 30kWh x $0.39400

We have propane, but it’s over $3/gal delivered so generators are out. Even with led lights in every room our house bill exceeds $300/mo in the winter and at least double that in the summer as a/c pushes us into Tier 2 and 3.

“Manuel Perales, the owner of Yosemite Falls Cafe says his June utility bill was nearly $21,000. His rent? $10,000.

“How do you pay that bill?” he said.”

Well, maybe y’all just need some more democrats in your government... Surely Just a few more will fix the problem.

I think California should shutter more power plants, mandate everyone drive electric cars, and only rely on wind and solar. That should fix the problem in no time.
