BREAKING:
Iran has summoned the French ambassador for the offensive representation of Jesus Christ during the Olympics opening ceremony.
Muslims consider Jesus a prophet of God.

Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance:
'The insulting representation of Jesus Christ in Paris yesterday was completely offensive and crossed all red lines. France, a country with a major history of Christianity, must be ashamed of itself, and I implore our Christian people all over the world to speak out against this act – we resolutely condemn this'

Even more, it makes ME wonder why GOD thought it was so important that JS should RE-TRANLATE the bible (creating the Inspired version) and insert MISSING parts that MEN had previously removed.
Got any thoughts along these lines?
Lots of thoughts. I welcome such additions to scripture who wouldn’t?
Maybe latter day Christian’s who think God is through speaking to man. That would qualify as stupidity IMHO.
When that happens, man is left to himself. An idea that has been tried before, and found lacking.
Revelation 22:18 King James Bible
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book,
If any man shall add unto these things,
God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
We may not have long to wait.
Bible students.
You flat out do not believe that what your Bible tells you is adequate, and that much MUST be added to it to get the 'correct' doctrines from Joseph Smith.
Can't rightly blame the BoM though - as it fairly states what the bible already mentions.
However, the bulk of the NEW things that LDSism adds comes NOT from the BoM, but other LDS scripture.
The BoM doesn't state how the garment is to be designed or worn.
The BoM doesn't contain any sacred covenants that LDS members must avow to to be allowed into an LDS temple.
The BoM doesn't describe differing levels of heaven.
The BoM doesn't... well - you know.
Can’t rightly blame the BoM though - as it fairly states what the bible already mentions.
Amen to that!
But back to the Christian conundrum of Prophets and Apostles. We’ve had this discussion before. You are forced by your problems with the Prophet Joseph to deny future Prophets as a necessity or be caught in your web of deceit.
In some cases those might even be Book of Mormon Prophets but since you reject Joseph and the Book of Mormon you have a real problem. There are not going to be Prophets speaking for the True and Living God, other than the ones established in the Church that bears the name of the Son of God or promoting principles contained therein.
There are millions that have passed into the eternities that could be Prophets to this generation if needed, and they might be unrelated to the LDS Church, but their principles would not vary from the Word of God either Bible or Book of Mormon.
As the Good Book says, there is nothing new under the Sun. Joseph is the Prophet of this dispensation of time, or God is a liar and has stopped talking to man through prophets because no one other than Joseph Smith has made the claim.
Despite the claims of those who just can’t seem to get past their latter day influencers who will go to any lengths to tell their proponents the exact opposite of what was known thousands of years ago by Prophets who bore testimony to the things God told them about these latter days.
All to be found in the Book of Mormon and the Bible for all to read if they so choose.
Bible students. That statement is a secular falsehood.
Gods mouth has seemingly been stopped by the very people pretending to believe in Him. Strange as it may seem.
As the scriptures say, they honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. There is no true Christian that would not welcome with open mind any word from Our Father or his Beloved Son through the authorized individuals who speak with authority for and in behalf of God himself.
Unless of course the source happens to be Joseph Smith or the Book of Mormon.
While...
You are forced by your belief in Joseph Smith to accept future Prophets as a necessity or be caught in his 'correction' of Christianity.
Reagan is getting tired of saying, "There you go again."
What does your chosen religion call BoM students?
Let's leave these two aside for a moment and get to the really GOOD LDS scriptures; shall we?
Surely the Pearl of Great Price and the D&C's can stand a little exposure in this thread.
Oh?
Why don't you believe Mohammed?
1 On many past occasions and in many different ways, God spoke to our fathers through the prophets.
2 But in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe.
But LDS has a problem - the word is PLURAL, while LDS teachings states there is only ONE prophet in it's leadership line:
In conclusion let us summarize this grand key, these “Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet”, for our salvation depends on them.
I testify that these fourteen fundamentals in following the living prophet are true. If we want to know how well we stand with the Lord then let us ask ourselves how well we stand with His mortal captain—how close do our lives harmonize with the Lord’s anointed—the living Prophet—President of the Church, and with the Quorum of the First Presidency. Ezra Taft Benson (Address given Tuesday, February 26, 1980 at Brigham Young University) http://www.lds.org/liahona/1981/06/fourteen-fundamentals-in-following-the-prophet?lang=eng |
(I guess it's ok to be proud, if you are ignorant or poor.)
Why don’t you believe Mohammed?
I could ask you the same question and our answers should likely be identical.
Not a good example in my opinion. Not that I’m here to help, but really if you think Mo is a valid example I can now fully understand why you have the issues you do with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Just one more reason why Prophets of God are a necessity.
“There you go again.”
Hey! That’s my line.
Surely the Pearl of Great Price and the D&C’s can stand a little exposure in this thread.
That would be going off topic perhaps with the idea of going off in uncharted waters. If you can’t get past Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon, it is pointless to venture into Books you shouldn’t be reading due to a lack of understanding.
But LDS has a problem - the word is PLURAL, while LDS teachings states there is only ONE prophet in it’s leadership line:
Sorry you are just wrong. There are fifteen men who are sustained as Prophets Seers and Revelators.
The Prophet or President holds the keys to the Kingdom.
The quorum of the twelve hold the same keys as a body.
What they do in the Name of the Lord will be in a spirit of complete Unity.
(I guess it’s ok to be proud, if you are ignorant or poor.)
I would suggest as do the Scriptures that pride is dangerous for man regardless of status.
All in all I appreciate the responses and your honesty.
So why ISN’T Mo an example?
It is abundantly clear to be a prophet one merely has to claim that he is one, and no one else then has the ‘authority’ to say he isn’t.
