Political commentator Bill Kristol said Friday on CNN’s “OutFront” that former President Donald Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), is “weird” and out of the mainstream.
Kristol said, “Normally the VP pick doesn’t matter much. The vice presidential pick doesn’t matter much. But Vance is so out of the mainstream, so weird, so self-consciously, so.”
He continued, “You know, normally the scandals and we’ve been through this so many times about someone who’s picked this quote, scandal is something someone said 15 years ago or some law enforcement brush, 25 five years ago when they were in college or something. Okay. people look at it for a day or two, they decide this person has been in public life for 20 years. This isn’t decisive. No one knows anything about Vance. He’s been a senator for 18 months and these these things he said were three years ago.”

...if the mainstream is Democrat, liberal, and Ivy League, sure, mostly true. Senator Vance did attend Yale for law school. He’s also a veteran, which is out of the mainstream for that crowd as well.

Kristol has already declared himself a Kamala supporter, so why would his opinion of Vance be anything but a smear job?
Disciplined and hard working. He is out of the mainstream in some areas of US society.
Yet Kamala wanting to defund the police is not outside the mainstream?

Vance IS strange and out of the mainstream, Billy, in some regards. He rose from abject poverty to the top tier of American society through hard work and applying his God-given talents. Many of us move up or down a rung or two from our start, but fewer achieve as much as Vance with so little to begin with.
I think warmongers like Bill Kristol who never served in the military are a lot more “weird” than JD Vance, who was a Marine in Iraq.

Once Vance got to Yale law school,he found a powerful promoter in Peter Thiel. His rise is not all bootstrapping, there is some serious behind the scenes lifting going on.
Obama was a partial term senator - and an Illinois state rep. Harris was a partial term senator - and a California attorney general.
That partial senate term is a little national experience gloss for ambitious politicians and their backers.
