The Federal Reserve’s preferred gauge of inflation rose slightly in June, according to new data from the Commerce Department released Friday.
The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index rose 0.1 percent last month and 2.5 percent over the past year. Core PCE, which excludes more volatile food and energy prices, was up 0.2 percent in June and 2.6 percent year-over-year.
The latest inflation reading comes as the Fed is set to meet next week. The central bank has held interest rates steady at a range of 5.25 to 5.5 percent for the past year, as inflation has remained stubbornly above its 2 percent target.
After peaking at a 40-year high in mid-2022, inflation has eased significantly. However, recent inflation data has showed halting progress, especially in the first quarter of 2024.

Just a transitory rise. /sarc
Inconvenient for the rate cut advocates.
I’m actually surprised they haven’t cut rates. Maybe we’ll see that at their next meeting.
Federal money printing as a percentage of total federal expenditures has done what in the face of effort to buy votes for Kamala. Plummeted?
Trump needs to make it clear that if you are young and working and earning and still can’t afford to buy a house it is because Harris allowed illegals to flood the country, and the federal government is printing money to buy that housing to house the illegals pricing you out of the market for your own home because you are too expensive and want to much and are being replaced with someone who is a lot cheaper, even if they don’t actually do any work.
Meat is becoming unaffordable. Grocery prices are horrible.
Wow. That is a great video. You should post it as a seperate post.
Tell me about it! My sister and I live off gov’t checks with a mortgage. It is tough and we have reached our limit on borrowing money....refrigerator broke and had to buy a new one which arrives next week.
In spite of all this, we have good neighbors and faith in God. We know that God is in control and pray for God’s will be done.
Inflation? Who cares?

You’re not alone. We go to food pantry locations now.
What is the horror news? (Vids are wrecking FR)
The guy says that Chicago has spent $3 billion on illegals, who are treated better than the homeless.
“Core PCE, which excludes more volatile food and energy prices….”
Because no one uses food or energy on a daily basis. Here in DuPage County gas at Woodmans just jumped .30 a gallon in one day. From $3.69 to $3.99 a gallon. That’s 8% by my calculation.
