Biden's legacy is still being written. How he helps Harris may be key.

WASHINGTON — Now a caretaker president, Joe Biden has no realistic hope of getting a divided Congress to pass unfinished parts of his agenda.

But what he can do in his remaining months in office may be even more important in preserving America's democratic traditions: stop Donald Trump's return to power, the president suggested Wednesday night in his Oval Office address.

“Nothing,” Biden said, “nothing can come in the way of saving our democracy. That includes personal ambition. So, I’ve decided the best way forward is to pass the torch to a new generation.”

Biden has left it to his vice president, Kamala Harris, to defeat Trump. He bowed to political reality in dropping his re-election bid, conceding that the younger, more energetic Harris may stand a better chance in November.

But Biden’s legacy is tethered to the outcome of the election, even if he's no longer on the ballot, historians say. Proud as he is of hard-won legislation aimed at upgrading roads and bridges, Biden needs a Harris victory to secure his own place in history, they said.

“People don’t go to presidential libraries to see the pen used to sign the infrastructure act under glass,” Douglas Brinkley, a Rice University presidential historian, said in an interview.

“If Harris loses, it will show that Biden’s biggest accomplishment in history — defeating Trumpism in 2020 — only meant that he contained it for a short moment.”

Biden’s “legacy” is decades of lying, stealing, hate, evil.

Plus selling out his country and destroying the Republic to line his own pockets.

Some legacy.

His absolutely stupid speech the other night was nothing but “Look how great I am! I am the greatest. Trump is evil. I quit.” bull squeeze.

I say Kamala is dropped at the Convention.

And then THAT becomes part of Joe’s legacy. Thorough rejection by his own party.

Campaigning directly for Harris is a riskier proposition. Only 36% held a positive view of Biden in the latest NBC News survey, down from 50% in his first months in office.

There is nothing "tricky" about it. Biden is toxic because his policies destroyed the country. He is an anvil around Harris's neck.

Biden’s legacy no president has ever caused as much damage chaos and crisis as he has.

He’s like a kid at a fuel refinery with a book of matches.

And the people who support him it’s a tribe of idiots.

Biden has made his “legacy” for over 30 years

one more evil deed like supporting Ineligible Harris for the nomination wouldn’t make a difference one way or the other

some legacy, a one term failure kicked to the curb by his own party. Even Jimmy Carter was allowed to at least exit gracefully. Saw a recent poll where 80% said the country was spiralling out of control. Gotta believe that China and Russia are at least thinking “can we FIRST STRIKE the US?”. This is def the scenario where they could at least “think about it. This is dangerous stuff, especially if that bird brain were to beat Trump.

After being incommunicado for days on end, holed up in No-Man’s Land (Delaware),
Biden attempted to “explain” why he abruptly stepped aside as the Democrat’s nominee.

Yet the frail-looking, bruised Biden provided the nation with no real info.

His clearly deteriorating condition combined with things he mumbled on TV
only served to reinforce the political uncertainty plaguing him and Kamala Harris.

Who is actually the president?

Why is he remaining in office if he can’t run for a second term?

What exactly do they plan to do to “save democracy?”

No l doubt that very much unless it’s Michelle. Another switch would doom them, unless it’s the mooch. She would be tough to beat.

“...preserving America’s democratic traditions...”

By anointing a Presidential candidate with zero input from the voters. Got it.

Helps Harris? Oh yeah— sure thing. The dog helping the other one across traffic. People do not get that Xiden can’t stand miz K— tried many times to get her somewhere else like the Border.

People writing this script are sure inaccurate. Like the head fake obamaumao thinks she’ll lose and is livid. They are all trying to put lipstick on this hog. Stupid is as stupid does, and stupid depends on really stupid people to sell this.

Ha! I like the D-NBC.

I looked at the article for a heading like Commentary or Opinion or Editorial. Nothing. And then I see this paragraph, and the little bit after the comma, ten trail-away words, means it's news and not commentary. Biden said it! Not the reporter, just the news here!

But what he can do in his remaining months in office may be even more important in preserving America's democratic traditions: stop Donald Trump's return to power, the president suggested Wednesday night in his Oval Office address.

It’s just so Orwellian after all the things the Democrats have done to eliminate “democracy” and the voters having a legitimate choice that they are still keeping up the pretense that they actual support “democracy.” What a bizarre joke. How much must they have brainwashed their followers that they can strong arm other candidates in their primaries, then later toss the primary votes and ouster the president, try to imprison their opponent, attempt to take their opponent off the ballot eliminating the point of even having an election in 31 states, etc. and still act like they aren’t attacking democracy in unprecedented ways?

The hypocrisy is just mind-boggling at this point.

When her Sugar Rush bump in the polls settles over the next 2 weeks into the same defeat trajectory, they will look to dump her. So Harambe The Ground Ape Mike can be the “Real black Sister” at the top of the ticket. Obama’s goal all along. He’s bored with endive salads and 250k speeches. He needs the challenge of acting out his inadequacies on the rest of us.
