We're scared to go out at night alone and short skirts mean unwanted sexual attention: Parisian women reveal safety fears after gang-rape of Australian tourist and say sex attack is 'catastrophic' to France's image days before Olympics

The horrifying attack on an Australian tourist in Paris last weekend is just the latest alleged gang rape on the streets of the French capital.

In the wake of the shocking news, Parisian women have revealed their safety fears, while police have voiced concerns in the run up to the Olympics.

Following the brutal attack which has sent shockwaves through the city, MailOnline spoke to several women in Pigalle. The recurring response was one of disbelief and horror - and concern about the safety of being out on the city's streets after dark.

Aurelia Desnot, a 21-year-old student, said: 'The rape of that poor young woman on Friday night has been catastrophic to the image of France. I would not go out late at night on my own in this area because I don't want to put myself in danger.

'There are always men hanging around late at night watching women,' she warned.

'When I go out, I go prepared. I know which route I am going on and I know how I am going to get home. And me and my friends check on each other to make sure we have got home safely.'

A woman, 25, sought refuge in a Paris kebab shop after being brutally raped by five men at around 5am. But just moments later, one of the woman's (blurred on the far left of image) alleged rapists (circled) approached her before 'patting her'

As the home of the internationally renowned Moulin Rouge cabaret club, Pigalle, attracts tens of thousands of tourists every day - but it is also home to seedy sex shops and massage parlours.

Despite the area's liberal attitude towards sex, woman feel like they have to cover up or face unwanted attention from men in the area.

I watched the video.

It appears that one of the French men went over to the bold rapist after he sat down to eat his fast food, and Jill-slapped him.

The French dude looked manfully angry.

Paris and other cities around the world still have signs like this welcoming the enemy.

Refugees welcome here hi-res stock photography and images - Alamy

And they wonder why things are catastrophic.

Exactly, they brought it on themselves with their naïve ignorance.

Diversity is not all it’s cracked up to be.

Women being the victims here, it occurs to me that women are
generally the ones who are quick to sign on to illegal
immigration. That’s my take on it. Perhaps others have a
good reason for seeing it differently.

Liberal White women will sign on to anything they are told
to.

I don’t know how much control they had over their bodies, the
victims here, during their ordeals.

I’m not trying to make light of what is happening, but
folks, it wasn’t real hard to figure out up front.

Sadly the only people who really care and want to do something
to end this, are described in the media as far right zealots,
and close to being NAZIs.

Western civilization is on the ropes.

I visited Paris over ten years ago before the onslaught of illegal immigration. I was near the Sacre de Coeur which is in the same neighborhood as the Moulin Rouge.

This neighborhood was known as pretty dicey and only got better for a while because it was featured in the movie "Amelie".

There was dog feces all over the sidewalks. Picking up dog droppings was just something Parisians didn't do. There were a lot of sub-Saharan African immigrants who stood around in large groups handing out cards to hair styling salons. Very similar to the people handing out strip club and escort cards in Vegas.

There was a lot of graffiti and the outsides of buildings were generally dingy. They also had those self-cleaning steel silo toilets which came complete with hypodermic needles.

There were some good shops to get sandwiches, veggies, etc. One shop run by Muslims had the very best Bear Claws (Amande Patisserie) I've every tasted.

I had a great time, but kept to the well-lit streets and tourist areas as much as I could.

LIberals are infected with the idea that, if they do good things, they will get good results. They do not understand that you need to be guided by the consequences if you want good done.

Western civilization is on the ropes.

To save the West, each country is going to have to take away the right to vote from the female voters.

In the U.S., we need to repeal the 19th Amendment.

I agree. Being nice to others doesn’t mean that they will
appreciate in and reciprocate kindly.

They see us as weak. And as a matter of fact, right now we
are.

I place my hope in God and then Trump.

Don’t worry, Mademoiselles;

Soon you will be required to wear burqas and forbidden from going out alone at any time, so your little problem will be solved.

Some woman are wise enough to agree to the need of the repeal.

We can certainly figure out what the disciples of abortion
will think about it.

I'll agree to give up my vote if we follow Starship Troopers' political system where you must serve in the military in order to become a citizen so you can vote.
