“Because just the name (AR-15) scares the bejesus out of liberal democrats”

Correct, but congress has to deal with the fact it’s just another semiauto rifle, no way to single it out. That’s why there’s never been a serious attempt to ban it. This is just campaign talk for the anti-gun crowd.

This guy must have the fully automatic AR-15 that fires 500 rds a second at 15,000 ft/second velocity in mind. It can cut an elephant in half!

AR-15 are sub par sniper weapons. A Remington Model 700 would be a much better choice.

To my eye, they knew something was wrong with that “kid” of theirs because they called the cops when they couldn’t find him, and probably couldn’t find the gun either.

He was living in the same house with them, and I have no doubt that he went on long screaming, hateful, illogical rants against Republicans and Conservatives that alarmed even his parents.

I am not one who believes the parents should pay for the sins of the child (or vice versa) but in this case they had to know this guy living in their house was dangerously unhinged.

Why else would they call the police because their 20 year old “kid” “couldn’t be found”?

At the very least, they should have had the guns locked up, if it DID belong to the father. (I don’t know if that is true, but you probably saw it somewhere I didn’t, and it isn’t implausible.

Of course, if they DID lock it up, this sounds like the type of person who could become violent because of it, even against his own parents. So there is that.

Ironic isn't it? Jamie is jacking his jaws about "finding courage", whilst he is too much of a coward to lead a charge to amend the Constitution as opposed to violating it.

I want to know what kind or SSRI the kid was on.

I have not heard anyone say anything about this

= = =

Some reports were that it is a Ruger AR-556, legally purchased by the dad.

This morning during the cheeto chick’s testamony, someone said the kid’s ID (with no ID on him) was determined by using the rifle’s serial number.

(Note this a good narritave for registering all guns, in a national data base. “See how quick that worked, good, right?)

Sounds good, but now I wonder. S/N tracing is supposed to be first Ruger, then the distributor, then the selling store, then visit them to see the 4473. No way that happened that quickly.

But, in Penn., does the background check result in the gun’s serial number entered into a data base?

Not supposed to, but, ???? Wait and see.

Over the years, I have found this to be an utterly alarming trend.

I was an absolutely horrible student when I was a kid, and my parents saved all of my report cards, from Kindergarten onwards. I was reading them recently, and the common theme was that I couldn't restrain myself, needed to practice self control, needed to stop being disruptive in class, and needed to pay attention instead of looking out the window, daydreaming, drawing pictures, or reading non-class material.

I have concluded that in today's world, they would have put me on something so fast that it would have made my head spin. I just finished reading a most disturbing book called Bad Therapy: Why The Kids Aren't Growing Up by Abigail Shrier.

She discusses today how this is presented as a fait accompli to parents (the drugging of the child) and almost all parents are so cowed by all of this (and they think the authorities would never suggest something bad or evil) so they almost all sign on to giving their kids drugs to "help" them.

I have concluded over time they cause inestimable and serious damage. I grew out of it and made it through, how many don't?

And all these kids being worked up for this evil transgender BS, how many of them are on mood-altering drugs? We jokingly post the "0-Days Without Trans Violence" every time one of these kids who are abused and mistreated by the adults in their lives who enable this ends up shooting his or her parents, schoolmates, co-workers, etc, but should keep in mind these "kids" are being abused and betrayed by the same types of people who prescribe these mood-altering drugs.

People they had every reason as a kid to trust.

Shameful.

Grrr. No doubt. I live in one of the most tyrannical states, and they are preparing to lower the boom on gun owners here. They just put out a bill and gave people 24 hours to look at it, with no time for input, feedback, or protest, before they vote on it. It is a done deal.

Despicable, evil turds. Every single Leftist who buys into this approach and pushes it deserves the maledictions of honest men.

Oh, yeah, almost lost in the ‘Fog of News’....

First they said they ID’d the kid using DNA.

That was questioned, and then vanished.

Maybe it was the gun’s DNA, Oh, Yeah that’s what we meant.

DNA, Serial Number, tattoo on the arm, all the same, easy to mix up.

You bring up an important point. The assassin had no criminal record or a record of mental illness. He also met the minimum age requirement of 18. He would have passed a background check.

These anti-gun laws are political theater. Criminals don’t obey laws. For the same reason that anti-drug laws don’t significantly deter drug users, gun restrictions don’t prevent people from using guns in crimes.

If politicians were serious about crime, they would make the use of a weapon in commission of a crime a very serious charge resulting in extended incarceration.

I found that interesting, too. Identified via DNA that quickly?

If his DNA was in a database beforehand, sure. However, if it wasn’t, I suppose they have tests and software that can determine key elements of DNA quickly, they have probably dozens if not hundreds or thousands of commercial databases they have immediate access to, and can narrow it down quickly by looking at potential matches from a given geographical area, and may even have found his mother, father, or other relatives who DID have DNA, and did a crossmatch with the name.

I can see that, as unsettling as that is.

I am no DNA expert, but I do know they have tests they used to use at the border to determine if a child was really the offspring of the person claiming to be a parent, but the Leftists put the kibosh on that one.

But there are some quick things, I just don’t know the rest of it.

They make some some nice AK style rifles chambered in .223 that are more reliable and easier to clean...flame away.

Supposedly a cheap, older AR15 with red dot sights. A gun expert has a video out showing how difficult it would be to get an accurate shot at that range with that rifle. It would be impossible to have staged the assassination attempt due to the inaccuracy of that equipment at that range. Even though he was firing from the prone position, he was firing under stress with a lower quality weapon.

Is that guy insane?

The main reason Trump is still alive is that Crooks used a crappy, old version of an AR-15 with a maximum accuracy of about 3” at 150 yards. Thank God he used such a crappy inaccurate weapon!

And the leftists want to use that as an excuse to ban that weapon? So that next time a shooter is forced to use a more accurate weapon?

The left really lives by the adage ‘Don’t let any crisis go to waste’

Well the 2a says shall not infringe and as interpreted in Bruen if in common use it can’t be banned without violating the 2A...so any law passes by a Congress is defacto unconstitutional a couple different ways. Congress simply doesn’t have the power.
