Biden Drops Out - Democracy is dead, long live democracy.
FrontPage Magazine ^ | July 21 2024 | Daniel Greenfield

The question of whether Joe Biden could hold out against political pressure from the media, donors, Obama and influential figures across the party has been answered.

He couldn’t.

The donor coup succeeded. Democracy is dead, long live democracy.

His campaign people had kept insisting that he was running until the last minute when his account tweeted a statement that he was abandoning his campaign. The whole seemed reminiscent of the palace coup against Japan’s Emperor Hirohito after the bomb dropped. Clearly there were multiple factions at work, but the power players, led by the party’s donors, won out and Biden, sick and isolated, weakly crumbled.

His Twitter account, rather than in any personal appearance, announced the news and endorsed Kamala, thus cutting off any plans for a ‘blitz’ primary.

Lots of other questions however remain to be answered.

Biden’s letter states that he’ll give some sort of speech later this week. Expect some brief, rambling, confused, and semi-bitter remarks.

Republicans will raise two points.

The legal question of who can and can’t appear on the ballots. Some Republicans in more liberal states will likely be more ‘gentlemanly’ about it which Democrats would never do in their place if Trump had to drop out and Vance were to step in. If Biden is unfit to campaign, why is he still fit to be president?

And that is the question that urgently needs to be answered.

Over the past few weeks, Dems and their media have laid out an argument (previously made by Republicans) that Biden is unfit on account of his mental state to be president.

So why is he still fit to remain in office?

When a small collection of donors have that much clout, is it time to start calling them oligarchs?

I think removing him actually gives Democrats access to all ballots but I’m not sure.

It’s not like Biden has actually been running the country and whoever has been will continue. It would be better to make them fight for ballot position in every state. It will take time money and organization and will take volunteers time if they have to scramble.

Honestly if I thought someone was going to be assassinated I thought they would do in Biden. Then they would have had the sympathy vote and a clear road ahead.

"The whole seemed reminiscent of the palace coup against Japan’s Emperor Hirohito after the bomb dropped."

What an ill-informed analogy.

This involved a few men outside his principal advisors in the Privy Council. After he spoke the "Voice of the Crane" and dictated on a phonograph record for his address to the nation they attempted to grab it.

Robert Barnes:

The Democrat Soviet took The Tater out to his Delaware dacha and let him listen to the news that he's not running.

And the Rutabaga-In-Chief also found out that he is endorsing vice president "Big Gulp".

If I were Putin or Xi I'd move now. Well, maybe not. If Kamala is pres, she'll be the idiot that we have all known about for many years. Xi and Putin will run circles around her. May God help America.

If she had any self respect, she'd refuse. She'd be a fool to accept the nomination. Apparently she has no self respect... re her reputation.

The problem is she, like Biden, are narcissists with their handlers telling them that they can do what they can't do.
