Vice President Kamala Harris will be an easier candidate to defeat in November than President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump said Sunday after Biden dropped out as the Democrat’s de facto nominee.
Biden endorsed Harris as his replacement about 30 minutes after announcing that he would not run for reelection on Sunday.
It is unclear if Harris can win the nomination. She holds a 36 percent approval rating nationwide, according to FiveThirtyEight.

The framers assumed that all educated persons knew what the term Natural Born Citizen meant.

The Founders were readers of EMMERICH DE VATTEL's 'The Law of Nations' and derived the term from his writing.
The following is the applicable passage of Vattel's writing that defines Natural-born Citizen as the founder understood the term.
The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights. Harris doesn’t have the time in DC to know where all the bodies are like Chomo Joe. She doesn’t have the leverage Chomo Joe has. Who can she intimidate and threaten? Her staff hates her? Who is loyal to her?

I don’t see the Democrats wanting her as the nominee, but special interest groups within the party might demand it. This could really create divide inside their party.
I wanted something from the Founders’ writings; not Vattel.
But if they all agreed about the meaning, they should have been specific. They were specific about a lot of other things.
And can’t Congress decide what it means, if they have reason to? Black people were not considered citizens, ‘natural’ or otherwise, until the Reconstruction Amendments.
In 2008 the Democrats nominated Barack Obama. The media throughout the campaign told voters they had a chance to make history by voting in the first black president. Millions of Americans did exactly that, many hoping to finally bury the legacy of slavery and Jim Crow.
In 2016 the Democrats ran Hillary Clinton and gave the country the “historic opportunity” to elect the first female president. Millions of women, including Republican women, voted to make history, giving Hillary the win in the popular vote. However Trump won the election in the Electoral College with very small popular vote wins in a few key swing states.
If Kamala is the nominee expect the media and the ladies on “The View” to tell the women of America, and “people of color”, they have the opportunity once again to make history. If Trump faces Kamala, and personalizes the race, he will likely lose the female and minority votes he needs to win the electoral votes of North Carolina, Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin which today he seems well positioned to win.
Does Trump have the self discipline to resist making comments the swing female and minority voters will view as hateful, racist, and misogynist? Can he rise to a positive Reagan style campaign asking voters to choose an future of growth and prosperity instead of economic decline, constant wars, high crime, open borders and high inflation?
In this crazy year there is one more wild card. It is very possible on September 18 Judge Merchan in New York will sentence Donald Trump to a stiff prison sentence and we will see the GOP candidate for president transferred from the courtroom to a prison cell only a few days before Americans begin casting ballots.
The Vance/Harris debate would have been quite amusing. I guess it won’t come to fruition.
