Bob Casey’s ‘greedflation’ fable
Broad and Liberty ^ | 07/19/2024 | Kyle Sammin

Posted on 07/20/2024 6:26:43 AM PDT by Kid Shelleen

Some time around 2021, American corporate executives discovered greed. Before that time, they kept prices low out of the goodness of their hearts, but three years ago — for mysterious reasons — they suddenly, en masse, decided to send prices through the roof.

At least that’s the story Sen. Bob Casey wants you to believe. It wasn’t the reckless deficit spending from the federal government, flooding the nation with cheap money while interest rates were already zero. No, it was that newfound greed by shadowy evil-doers that made your grocery bill go up and your wages fail to keep up.

Inflation is a monetary phenomenon.

Too much money chasing too few goods.

I guess a Democrat could think that way. I like to think that if pure greed is shown to be a motive for high prices, people eventually catch on & refuse to pay those exorbitant prices, thereby causing them to decrease. At this present time ,the amount of inflation for certain things would seem to indicate that perhaps pure greed is having it’s day in some cases, though. Certain items would appear, from my standpoint, badly overpriced & well beyond normal inflation.

Grocery stores have always operated with a net profit of 1.5-2 %.

I hope so. He’s been a waste of space and has accomplished NOTHING his entire time in the senate. We never hear anything from him until he is campaigning. Pray that McCormick wins.

Yet many “low information voters” will believe him.
Gotta give it to Democrats, they know their voters!

Brain dead Casey has to actually spend money on ads this cycle. I never understood how the PAGOP could never put up a viable candidate to oppose the empty suit. Fetterman winning is mind boggling. The suburban white woman abortion vote always is the ace in the hole.

If it were true, why weren't grocery stores greedy under Bill Clinton, Obama, or Trump?

But in a way, the inflation *is* connected to corporate greed.
Not of grocers, but of the merchants of death who are driving our foreign policy.
