MAGA Is Now The GOP Establishment
Highly Respected ^ | July 19th, 2024 | Scott Greer

With the Republican National Convention wrapped up, it’s clear the GOP is unquestionably the party of Donald J. Trump. There is no real dissent from MAGA in the party ranks. Bitter primary rivals took the stage to pay obeisance to the nominee. The crowd booed Mitch McConnell and other Republicans who have run afoul of Trump. On the other hand, the crowd went nuts for Tucker Carlson and Hulk Hogan. Throughout the week, Trump was treated as a conquering king, watching the festivities from his perch and relishing the adoration of the entire convention. It was a full-on MAGA fest.

MAGA is now the party establishment. The old guard has either bent the knee or left the party. There were no Bushes, no Cheneys, no Paul Ryan, and no Mitt Romney at the convention. There were no passive-aggressive speeches calling for Republicans to “vote their conscience.” Like McConnell, the only establishmentarians allowed to speak were those fully endorsing Trump. It’s his party now.

I did not see Romney, Ryan, Cheney, Christie or the Bush brothers at RNC. Did not miss them.

Do you still care about conservatism: limited government, free markets, traditionalism, libertarianism, nationalism? 😉

Do not be in a rush to purge any RINO in congress. We have razor thin majority in House and democrats outnumber repubs in Senate. RINO’s occasionally vote conservative. Democrats never do. Best to let the RINO’s follow Willard and retire.

Mark my words...they will. And the news that comes from their convention will be all rainbows and unicorn farts.

The parts I watched were refreshing. It was a good convention, I look forward to November when America first comes back to the White House. Just pray that between now and Inauguration Day things remain civil and peaceful. I know it’s wishful thinking but one can hope.

Try to imagine Ronna McDaniel’s 2024 RNC Convention.

The GOP is becoming the American Party!

Regardless of what happens in November.. the party has been cleansed. The era of Bush/Cheney/Rove/Romney/Ryan.. is over.

DISAPPOINTING response.

It was a PR event as much as any unchallenged Convention is supposed to be. Trump was already anointed. He needed to reach out to anyone watching. It was also, clearly, a Trump PR event. He wrestled the RNC control away from the GOPe FR claims to hate.

You are, of course, correct about the situation in Congress. There will be no “Night of Long Knives”, though. In a sense, America is fortunate that Trump had his victory stolen, last time, as there has been more time for an active Trump to make the changes you seem to think are easy. It took a long time for the GOPe to get as bad as it was. Trump may not be willing to take that long to fix it.

Trump is obviously way more formidable than the “Tea Party”.

This is not meant as an attack on you. I agree that the road ahead is steep. My suspicion is that the Senator from South Carolina will cling on to the bitter end.

I do and I believe the direction the party is heading has a much greater chance of achieving them than anything we’ve seen after Reagan.

"How many of current GOP senators are MAGA? How many are just saying they are MAGA?"

Exactly. And same for the house. And don't forget the governors, also the state houses/senates.

I struggle to come up with 3-5 senators worth naming out of roughly 50 of them.

And in the house there are probably not any more than 30 worth naming as well. This out of a potential of around 250 people in congress. It's a pathetic number, 33-35 people.

The governors/state houses and senates follow a similar pattern. The GOP Establishment is still well in control, MAGA has not yet superceded the old guard.

I took no offense at your comment.

Truth is I didn’t watch one minute of the convention.

I plan to read the text of Trump’s speech.

The election boils down to a binary choice in November.

The question is who will be the alternative choice to Trump and how many votes can the Democrats steal and harvest.

A lot of unknowns ahead as the past week proves.

Trump took the Republican party and turned into the MAGA party. I no longer identify as Republican.

I am trying to recover from 4 decades of political spouse abuse and gaslighting from the GOPe. I am still a bit skeptical and have some ptsd over it.

I have also been a Republican Party battered wife for decades HOWEVER unless we are willing to STOP voting just because of an R next to the name THEN it will be another couple of decades before we are truly free of these bastards!! The thing that worries me is we send these MAGA to DC by the time we get NEW MAGA to the helm the previous MAGA we sent there have been swallowed by the swamp!! This is WHY term limits HAVE TO BE installed I don’t know HOW we get this done but it needs to be a #1 priority! We ALL LOVED Rubio, Tim Scott, LYIN Ryan, and on and on LOOK where they are now!………..SPIT

Not quite yet.

More RINO purging needs to be done.

But… we WILL win.

Yes, McConnell, Lindsey Graham, John Cornyn and several others need to be cleansed from the party.

The voters are MAGA but the deep state still owns and operates The GOP. Just look at them. Trump will have the same problems with support in Washington that he’s had and continues to have but with one difference, the donor class appears to be turning more to Trump these days. Let’s see how much difference that makes.

The GOP as a party still remains 100% useless to their voters and America.
