In these interesting times, never assume big events are coincidences.

A lot of RNC convention goers and speakers are stuck in Milwaukee. The scenes from the airport there are chaotic.

I’m sure when all of us saw the word “Crowdstrike” the first thing that came to mind was the “hack” and Seth Rich.

When I see an incident such as this, I always ask myself “what are they trying to distract us from seeing?”. It’s much like in the movies when the bad guys start a fire to distract everyone from the fact they are robbing the bank vault.

The most innocent explanation is inexperience and incompetency.

Critical infrastructures, both public and private, will continue to fail unless we return to hiring on merit.

Latest, there is now a fix making the rounds.

It entails getting into SAFE MODE, navigating to a CrowdStrike folder, and deleting a certain file.

If you have an affected PC, you can consider using this fix. Or not.

“Interesting that BlackRock and Vanguard top off the list of institutional investors of Crowdstrike.”

probably not ... those two likely top the list of institutional investors for ALL large publicly traded corporations and many, if not most, smaller publicly traded corporations ...

No, but it’s sure convenient that this ‘squirrel’ takes Biden and his struggles off the front page.

“As someone who was in the IT Support business for 38 years, I’m always skeptical of the excuses that offered to the public when this type of thing happens.”

Someone put a change into production without testing. First thing is an audit of all change records for the last month. I believe for public companies Sox 404 references internal controls and changes to the production environment. The company will have to provide evidence that their change policies are being followed.

I’ve been in IT support for the same amount of time. 38 years.

Someone screwed up. This wasn't supposed to happen until late October.

Heads will surely roll.
