The local police officer who encountered the would-be assassin of former President Donald Trump “did not retreat” and tried to grab his gun but fell backwards, injuring himself in the process. The officer is now in “pretty bad” mental shape, Butler Township Commissioner Edward Natali said, explaining that media outlets are wrongly blaming local officers for what happened Saturday evening in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Speaking to Breitbart News Daily, Natali explained that seven local police officers were tasked with traffic control — nothing else
“I’m going to say that that building was discussed earlier in the week. That was confirmed to me. I wasn’t directly in the loop of all the preparations, but I can tell you, my team had a very good operational plan for that day, but it was all traffic control,” he said, emphasizing that they were “strictly there for traffic control.”
So their defense is the not my problem defense?

No
They are saying they were there for traffic control not sercurity
When people alerted them to the shooter they tried to stop him
I don’t blame that officer. He had the balls to go up there. I blame those that let him get up there.
Plane crashes are usually due to a series of cascading failures.
Human, environmental, mechanical.
This one was all human.
No, it is the old, “I was trying to get my gun out but I fell instead.” ploy. He wasn’t supposed to be there anyway and so he would have probably been shot by the fbi or ss or some other fed operative if he had gotten any further.
… pretty bad mental shape? That sounds non-responsive.
That not my yob, man.
Instead of grabbing the rifle, he should have just shot him...
Or, at least, given him a jay-climbing ticket...
Must have been his “Uvalde”-type training...
No, that would be the secret service throwing you under the bus.
I don’t think I’d be in great mental shape if I failed to keep Trump from being shot.
Would you?
So staties were the “locals” there for added security?
So one cop cannot grab his gun w/o falling and another can't re-holster her sidearm.

= = =
Wasn;t the cop hanging on the edge of the roof?
Need more detail.
The implication I got from the wording was that the local officer tried to draw THEIR own holstered pistol and lost balance and fell while doing so. It didn’t read like they physically engaged with the shooter in melee fashion.
This whole thing is more of an institutional problem, not something of the one cop. This was much like the Keystone Cops. The SS looks like clowns.
Read the article. He was being hoisted by one officer and was holding the roof when he saw him. When he officer went for his gun he fell.
says tried to grab HIS gun....still betting it was a female...
So he wasn't in very good physical shape then.
