A reporter probably asked her if she received a call from Biden. She answered that she refused to take the call.
So, then, of course, the reporter would’ve asked if she’d heard from Trump.
If Trump hadn’t called her by that point, she would’ve answered no.
IOW, she probably just answered a question. But, the news media hoped to make an issue out of it.
Trump expressed his condolences in a public message and his team started GoFundMe’s for the victims right away.

If she did answer the spam call from Biden, I don’t think he would have remembered calling her, let alone remember to call her in days ahead.
I think I would have taken the call and recorded it.
