Embattled Secret Service head Kimberly Cheatle has revealed the fateful reason why her agency failed to position an agent on top of the building that a gunman used to carry out an assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
Cheatle, who is already facing calls to resign over what some lawmakers are calling a massive security failure, said Secret Service officials planning security for Trump's rally in Butler, Pennsylvania considered the warehouse about 150 yards away from where Trump spoke to be a risky position for stationing an agent.
'That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there's a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn't want to put somebody up on a sloped roof,' she told ABC News in an interview Tuesday.
'And so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside.'
What transpired instead was a security nightmare: Thomas Matthew Crooks was able to scale the building and secure his own position, while law enforcement struggled to locate him even amid pressing warnings from members of the Trump crowd. But there wasn't sufficient time to act on the tips, she explalined.
'The shooter was actually identified as a potential person of suspicion,' Cheatle said. 'Unfortunately, with the rapid succession of how things unfolded, by the time that individual was eventually located, they were on the rooftop and were able to fire off at the former president.'

2) the building was a nearly flat sheet metal pole barn type. about the safest and lowest slope roof next to a flat roof you can halve in that part of the country.
3) the counter sniper guys were on a much much steeper roof than the perp.
When I go to protests at the capitol, there are always snipers on high roofs overlooking.
They are always there.
This was a special case.
Were the other snipers women who cannot walk on slightly sloped roofs? Ain’t Affirmative Action wonderful.

It’s not incompetence. Any 12-year-old off the street, with no training whatsoever, knows you have to guard the rooftops.
This is deliberate, and she should immediately be taken into custody under charges of manslaughter.

I think this was a Sirhan-Sirhan planned out episode. Kid was fed info which site would be best, and a clean-up crew would ensure he was shot before he came off the roof.
Or fly the “Appeal to Heaven” flag like Ginny Thomas.

There are a thousand different ways the Deep State could attempt an assassination of President Trump.
This was one way.
The Secret Service made the shot as easy as possible and bought as much time as possible for the assassin.
It was a true miracle that President Trump was not killed.

It is an extreme danger to be on a roof like that in HEELS...

Yes it does! Any potential sniper was required to check with the agents inside the building before climbing onto sloped roof. Too bad the official Sniper Check in Sign was not back from the printer…..

And why do we have a head of the SS who came from some sort of security position at Pepsi Cola? With its highly specialized mission, looks like the SS should definitely be an organization that promotes from within to fill its top positions.
