In the 48 hours before he opened fire on former President Donald Trump, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks made a series of stops in and around his suburban Pittsburgh hometown.
On Friday, he went to a shooting range where he was a member, and practiced firing, a law enforcement official told CNN. The next morning, Crooks went to a Home Depot, where he bought a five-foot ladder, and a gun store, where he purchased 50 rounds of ammunition, the official said.
Then, Crooks drove his Hyundai Sonata about an hour north, joining thousands of people from around the region who flocked to Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. He parked the car outside the rally, with an improvised explosive device hidden in the trunk that was wired to a transmitter he carried, the official said. Then, investigators believe, he used his newly-bought ladder to scale a nearby building, and opened fire on the former president.
As investigators continue to search for a motive behind the attempted assassination, they are scrutinizing Crooks’ movements before the attack and trying to piece together a timeline of his actions leading up to it.
Yet nearly 48 hours after the shooting, investigators are struck by the lack of leads they’re finding about Crooks’ mindset and possible motives. Even after successfully breaking into his phone and searching his computer, scouring his search history and bedroom, and interviewing his family and friends, agents still haven’t found evidence that would suggest political or ideological impetus for the shooting, law enforcement sources told CNN.

Extension Ladder? I disagree. In looking at the photos of the ladder the top of it is considerably narrower than the bottom which indicates a step ladder. Extension ladders are the same width from top to bottom.
Either the article is wrong this is misinformaton, it can’t be a 5 foot ladder for it would be 3 - 5 feet too short.
To be a bit contrary, I owned a sonata and used it as a pickup truck more than once. Fold the seat down and have it hanging out the back. Done it more than once
Maybe it is 5ft when retracted/folded?
Eleven steps at 12” spacing = 12 foot ladder
“Yet nearly 48 hours after the shooting, investigators are struck by the lack of leads they’re finding about Crooks’ mindset and possible motives.”
Have they asked his handlers in the CIA, FBI, DHS, etc? Ask Brandon! He’ll at least give you some gibberish as a starting point. Also ask him what he meant about the ‘crosshairs’ needing to be on President in Exile Trump. Yeah. Start THERE!

You know we’re never going to know JACK about this situation.
Look at sat view of Google maps, and check out street view. You can see all the buildings and how they are connected. I’m sure someone was sleeping at the switch, but honestly after seeing it all, it isn’t that hard to determine the path (via roof top) to get a shot.
In street view, you can even see how to get on the roof with a 5ft ladder.
This isn’t that difficult.
Counting the rungs, this seems to be the ladder:
Louisville Ladder 10-Foot Fiberglass Step Ladder, 375-Pound Load Capacity, Type IAA, FS1410HD
https://www.amazon.com/Louisville-Ladder-Fiberglass-375-Pound-FS1410HD/dp/B000KL0ZT0?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1
what weapon did the shooter use?
Looks about right.
...And CNN looks like a news organization
So a kid carrying a 12 foot ladder and a long gun doesn’t get noticed by the secret service.
We don’t know anything about the ladders yet, he bought a 5 foot ladder that if intended for and taken to the shooting could have been to get on top of an A/C unit, or past the locked barrier on a built in permanent ladder, or onto something else for a path to the roof.
The 12 foot ladder we don’t know if it was already in place or if the law has been using it since the shooting, if it had been in place surely the SS removes or locks off things like that rather than just leaving them in place.
Water tower 90ft tall, 100yrds East of assassin.
No over watch?
That vantage point easily covers the area
Why is no one talking about this?
The ladder behind the bushes was a 12’ step ladder, minimum. Not 5’.
Perhaps the ladder info he bought is incorrect.
Carrying a 12’ ladder cannot be missed. He must have put it up day before or earlier.
Sounds like they’re being a bit lazy - the easy to find evidence of a stupid criminal isn’t panning out as they thought.
That likely means this fellow paid attention to his antifa trainers and was able to obscure his tracks reasonably well.
A lot of us guys are lusting for that little beauty, top notch ladders are great, but $415.00 is a budget buster.
I am surprised Crooks didn’t ask local LEO help in setting up his sniper position. They would have probably helped him becsause they were “unsure” of his motivation. Don’t expect a bunch of Barney Fifes to help us. We are on our own.
Laddrs fold and unfold.
