Same here - until a few months ago I had never heard of Burghum - which reminds me too much of Pence in 2016, who I also had never heard of.

I think Vance comes across as reasoned and principled - and will attract independents and Dem crossovers.

I also think Vance has moral courage and gravitas and is thus a threat to the deep state - which will be an insurance policy for Trump
