RealClearPolitics correspondent Susan Crabtree reported that the Secret Service agents “protecting” former President Donald Trump at yesterday’s rally in which he was shot were “temporary replacements from different field offices.
“New info from a source in the Secret Service community — Trump’s usual protective Secret Service detail was worked so hard (working 7 days a week with no days off) that many of agents assigned Saturday were temporary replacements from different field offices,” posted Crabtree on X. “This is not the usual protocol for sitting presidents and vice presidents but ‘typical’ for former presidents, (although no former presidents have run again in modern history.)”
“’Trump has a permanent detail, however it’s much smaller in the amount of bodies,’ the source said. ‘His detail has been worked so hard with all the travel that they’re working 7 days a week with shift changes. so HQ sends in temp agents to supplement – not a good scenario. Mission Failure, IMHO.'”

Of the counter sniper team that killed the shooter only after he killed one rally attendee, shot the former President and injured two others, Crabtree posted:

Another Secret Service source says approval for the Counter Sniper Team was only granted the day before the rally - and that is not enough time for a two-man team to do their survey.

The new SS team ignores an armed assassin on a roof top maneuvering to get into shooting position for close to 10 minutes while they let President Trump stand on stage like a sitting duck the whole while.

Since this first attempt missed only by chance and millimeters. the next attempt is already in the planning stage.
Trump has repeatedly asked that his SS detail be increased and has been repeatedly been turned down. Bet they find the resources now.

I can believe Trump works harder and longer than the typical SS detail does. They’re used to Biden going to the beach for days on end and the toughest duty is to wipe up his ice cream dribble.

So you have a two man counter sniper team. A casual glance around the site shows two clusters of buildings within a few hundred yards of the podium - one of which is the AGR factory.
So you deploy both of your snipers on the same roof, six feet apart...and leave the other unprotected.
Maybe that’s how they did security at Pepsico where this SS Director came from but it’s pathetically dumb.
