Conservative groups are systematically attempting to challenge the legitimacy of large numbers of voter registrations across the country before the presidential election.
The strategy is part of a wider effort raising questions about the integrity of this year’s election as former President Donald Trump repeatedly claims without evidence that his opponents are trying to cheat.
The voter roll tactics include mass door-knocking campaigns, using special software designed to identify voters whose eligibility could be challenged and a crush of lawsuits. Some of those have been brought by the Republican National Committee, which hosts the GOP’s national convention this coming week.
Several Republican secretaries of state are combing through voter lists on their own, including in Ohio and Tennessee, or to comply with aggressive new state voting laws.
Those behind the reviews cast them as good government endeavors intended to help local election offices clean up the rolls. Voting rights groups and Democrats believe the effort aims to shake faith in the results of the 2024 election and lay the legal groundwork to challenge the results.
Here is a look at what’s happening around voter roll challenges:

AP - the worst of the worst.
“without evidence” . . . hock and spit!!!!!!!
Empty all voter rolls and require everyone to re-register with required state ID and voter registration card.
Have an national instant voter check to make sure that the individual isn’t registered to vote anywhere else.
Require showing state ID and voter registration card when you vote.
It looks like the AP is using the legal definition of evidence. This meaning is a document or other item that has been accepted by a judge into a court case in a court of law. Using this definition …. if there is no court case, then there is no “evidence”. This is certainly NOT the definition most people think of for the word evidence but it is a real definition in the dictionary
It is probably the definition that the Clintons used all the many times they said “there is no evidence”. The fake news media has certainly been using it for four years relating to election fraud in the 2020 election.
Julie Carr Smyth thinks it’s wrong for a democracy (Republic) to show careful diligence to its citizens rolls.
She is for what, then? Cheating, or anyone with a warm a$$ voting?
Or is AP just a haven for democrat party operatives masking as journalists?
(I know the answer to that rhetorical question, of course!)
Well then clean the dang rolls and sow some trust in the election.
The vast majority of Americans support voter ID laws.
“....Donald Trump repeatedly claims without evidence that his opponents are trying to cheat......”
Obviously this reporter is either not paying attention ...... or is so biased that he refuses to face the truth.
The media claims “without evidence” that they are unbiased.
OR
The media “falsely” claims that they are unbiased.
OR
The media makes the “debunked” claim that they are unbiased.
They just can’t resist using these catch words that prove that they are biased.
Trump has plenty of evidence and witnesses of voter fraud in the 2020 election. Doxing and lawsuits ensue if they try to present it.
This is encouraging. It means that said efforts are working.
Cleaning the absolutely filthy, corrupted, and untrustworthy voter rolls is breeding distrust.
Got it.
And election mistrust is not merited?
“to identify voters whose eligibility could be challenged”
In other words, they have a problem with the way we conservatives feel that death should cause a voter to be ineligible!
sow election distrust?? are you kidding me??? @#$#$#%#@@$$, They have done this right in front of our faces and the republicans turned away
Anyone who opposes cleaning up elections automatically favors cheating. No middle ground.
election distrust SHOULD BE sown!
Repeat every ten years.
this should be required before every election.
I believe every bona fide citizen should have to vote on Election Day and have submerge their hand in indelible ink
