The surprise victory of the New Popular Front (NFP) in France's elections has set alarm bells ringing for the nation's wealthy as the hard-left alliance plans to roll out an eye-watering 90% income tax on high earners.
Even before the election took place, financial advisers reported a huge influx of enquiries off the back of Emmanuel Macron's decision to call a snap election, with well-off French citizens considering a move to more fiscally favourable territories such as Italy, the historic tax haven of Switzerland, and Spain.
But the victory of the NFP over Macron's centrists and the hard-right National Rally (RN) this Sunday has forced France's elite to seriously consider how their fortunes would fare given the very real prospect of a dramatic tax-and-spend economic policy.

I would start with the soccer players who are making enormous salaries and who were vocal about this election.
Over on Democratic Underground they talk not just about increasing income tax on the wealthy quite a bit, but actual wealth tax. Taxing net worth to the point of taking stock holding where profits are not yet realized, they’re just profits on paper. They could become losses. They really don’t care. Taxes are the solution to everything apparently.

The Left has a “zero sum” view of economics.
If you have more money than I do, then that means you stole the money from me. You thief. I deserve that money that you have. By hook or by crook we need to redistribute the money from your pocket into my pocket. That’s the only fair thing to do. You stole the money from me by working harder than I did. You rat.
The concept of wealth creation or a rising tide lifting all boats is just not something the Left understands. The size of the pie is the size of the pie. Unequal slices indicate injustice.
That would result in a rapid rate of diminishing returns to tax existing wealth as existing wealth would be reduced each time the tax is collected.
Wealth creation requires effort and work which requires a work ethic that they don’t want or have. They would rather steal it by any means necessary.
That is what they have been doing for the last 200 years. You would think that people would have tired of this long ago, but the human condition plus collectivism is too hard for them to give up the thieving

Back to the subject at hand, the elites typically vote left. It appears the elites all over western culture are getting what they voted for.
We have an out of state elite that purchased wilderness property near us that is land locked. He is now suing neighbors to get a right of way so he can start a housing project no one wants.
The invasion of France is complete, now the looting begins.
