French Jews fear they may have “no future” in the country after the far-left’s victories in the parliamentary elections over the weekend.
As Breitbart News reported, French President Emmanuel Macron’s alliance with the New Popular Front delivered a victory over the Marine Le Penn’s populist right, which has sparked concerns about rising antisemitism.
Moshe Sebbag, a rabbi for the Synagogue de la Victoire, told the Times of Israel that “it seems France has no future for Jews” while advising young Jews in the country to leave for Israel.
“But people my age, who are 50, 60, we’ve made our life here and we fear for the future of our children,” he said.
While Moshe Sebbag certainly did not welcome the New Popular Front victories, he ultimately lamented about the mainstreaming of antisemitism in general.
French-Jewish philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy said this weekend’s victories mark a rise in the “new antisemitism.”
“The left is once again kidnapped by the infamous Melenchon. Divisive language. Hate of the republic on the lips. Around him right now are some incarnations of the new antisemitism. A chilling moment. A stain: Continue to fight against these people,” French-Jewish philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy wrote on X.
Jean-Luc Melenchon, leader of the France Unbowed far-left party, or LFI, previously called French Jews “an arrogant minority that lectures to the rest” and is even “on record in an earlier speech as celebrating anti-Israel protesters days after some of them stormed a synagogue, condemning in that speech only French Jews who demonstrated to show solidarity with Israel,” according to the outlet.

Yup. Just appalling.

That is the same reason some surviving Jews left Europe, and headed for Palestine after WWII ended. They didn't think they would be safe if they stayed there.
Very good summation
“When I say that, I am focusing on Jewish leftists and not Torah observant Jews.”
As a Torah observant Jew myself living in Israel — THANK YOU for understanding the reality.
“The west has not oppressed Judaism until recently.”
In 1290, King Edward I of England expelled all the Jews. Of course, it started with the Romans, but there have such things going on for a long time in Europe.
True, post-WWII, things were looking up for the survivors, but the Left is in charge. They hate the Jews and love the Muslims, who hate the Jews.
Exekiel 18:19,20 guides me on this matter.
If we are going to lay blame, whom we blame and to the extent of the blame we assign should be as exact as we can make it.
It seems like Jews are to a point, where they are not safe anywhere. I know it’s not easy, and would be a big hassle, but maybe all Jews should go back to Israel.
The unintended consequences are always the killer.
Usually ends the same way for smart people trying to manipulate the system to their advantage.
... but maybe all Jews should go back to Israel”.
This is an interesting point. Throughout history, many nations told the Jews to leave (forced expulsions). In the 20th century the Europeans told the Jews to go to British Mandate Palestine or die...and they did.
Now the Arabs, HAMAS, Muslims, PLO, Hizbollah, Jihadists, etc., all tell the Jews to leave Israel and go back, “to where you came from, (Europe and the Arab nations).
Seems like no matter where Jews live, (and thrive) they are told to move on.
In this scenario, with Antisemitism resurging, it doesn’t matter where they live, hatred follows.
A while back, French Orthodox rabbi Rav Touitou gleefully welcomed the Muslim invasion of Europe, saying that "Islam is the broom of Israel."
By which he meant that God will use Islam to erase Christianity from Europe, to punish it for centuries of anti-Semitism.
This will also drive Jews to Israel, and usher in the Messiah.
Yes, indeed.
What ‘far-left victory’? There is none. The French Parliament is now hung, with no group having an absolute majority. Melenchon’s far left party has barely a third of the seats. It’s only a ‘victory’ in the sense that it has a few more seats than Le Pen’s Natonalists.
At the very least, French Jews would be well advised to get Israeli passports and move their assets out of France in case they should need to leave quickly. I’d also think about selling my assets and renting instead of owning if I were them.
Will be hard for le pen to win next time also. To many leftists and this first /second ballot system makes it easy for the 2 leftist government to play with each other
It needs to get real bad for le pen to outright win in France
So , remember that red wave that never happened 2 years ago, I won’t count my chickens until the hatch , don’t get to complacent expecting a trump win , the media will throw the kitchen sink at trump during the next few months
Do not sit back and expect trump to win easily, it will NOT be easy
Do not be complacent!!! Work your asses off !!
Leftists don’t ALLOW themselves to lose elections anymore, PERIOD. Unless they’re playing a long-game and doing it for strategic reasons. I hate to say this, but over the past number of years, my faith in the electoral system has pretty much become nil.
In the Middle East, “Popular Front” and “Popular Struggle-Front” were also PLO (Hamas) factions in the Sixties and Seventies.
Playing both sides will get you nothing
The UK and France have elected far left radicals that will take an already out of control situation and make it 10X worse, both are WEF clones, unlimited immigration from Africa and other Islamic countries will do nothing but increase the violence, while they crackdown on any pushback from the right.
Germany is close behind; they are on the verge of outlawing the AfD which is the only political party in Germany pushing back against this insanity.
Today the Jews, tomorrow ethnic French of other persuasions.
French people need to reacquaint themselves with the history of the French Revolution. Whether it be a monarchy or other type of dictatorship, the results for the common citizens are the same, MISERY.
