Cut-off for Democrats to replace Biden: A state-by-state breakdown for running alternate candidates
Daily Mail ^ | 7/07/24 | Katelyn Caralle

With just four months until the presidential election, Democrats scramble to decide if they should replace President Joe Biden with a different candidate on their ticket in November.

After the 81-year-old stumbled, mumbled and blank-stared his way through his debate with Donald Trump in Atlanta last month, Democrats are concerned about his mental fitness and viability as a candidate.

The Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois is August 19-22 and will conclude with the party choosing its nominee for 2024.

It's now unclear if that will still be Biden.

Some names being floated as his replacement are California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and – more begrudgingly – Vice President Kamala Harris.

DailyMail.com breaks down how Democrats can oust Biden and the state laws regarding ballot printing and when it might be too late for the Party to choose a replacement for the incumbent president.

Biden is the sole candidate who is officially eligible for nomination at this stage, according to the party rules that will be formalized during the first day of the Convention on August 19.

Those within the Democratic Party have acknowledged that current rules make it hard for other candidates to earn the nomination this year and if Biden doesn't agree to step aside, the prospects become essentially impossible.

Delegates were finalized at selection on June 22 and were chosen on a state-by-state basis to represent support for the president in the nomination process. It's unlikely they would shift their backing.

There are 43,933 pledged Democratic delegates for 2024 and to win the presidential nomination a candidate must earn a majority of them – estimated at 1,968 this year.

But many say they aren't changing this late in the game.

He is too demented to run for president but not so demented he cannot continue as president?? Sum Ting Wong here. If they were so concerned, they would use the 25th, but alas, that puts in the next worse candidate, Harris unless they drop her from the ticket and incur the wrath of the dummies who put her there in the first place.

There is some kind of NATO meeting early this week, my guess is Joetato leaves the race after it. The only question I guess left is which turd floats to the top.

The Rats could always give Hillary a call. Lots of people connected to the Clinton’s die mysteriously.

Biden drops out and probably need a rule change to free delegates. Easier to have Joe drop out after convention. That cuts out completely those 3900+ pledged delegates.

Party bosses pick. Wouldn’t have to be Kamala. New pick could pick his own VP too. But likely just be Kamala as pick for president.

The DemoRat delegates should do mail in ballots to the DNC at ballot drop boxes and have the USPS delivery after hours plus several days to count the votes. Si se puede.

Under current rules, if Biden withdraws his delegates are released from their obligation to vote for him. They can pick anyone. Biden can recommend, but not require a vote for someone in particular. Current rules say they should "in all good conscience" reflect the preference of the voters who elected them, but they are not legally bound to any candidate once the candidate they were pledged to withdraws.

The party will want to avoid that free-for-all, so watch for them to change the rules.

Maybe those freed former delegates will opt for Sanders? Wouldn’t that irk the party leadership!

Swing states and big states should be the focus. However,I’m sure we all know that Rat Party Headquarters will,by hook or by crook, make sure that their nominee...whoever he/she/it is...will be on all 51 ballots.

Good thing, too. Chicago has it bad enough without 44,000 of these moonbats descending on the city all at once

Yup—You cannot “replace” a nominee that does not exist.

Conventions nominate the candidates—by rules they approve at the convention.

Everything else is noise.

They plan to use the Nato meeting to begin the rebuilding of Traitor Joe’s image.

No, it isn’t four months. I keep saying this. The OH ballot must be SET by Aug. 7, so the DNC announced it would nominate Rutabaga on July 27 in a “virtual” convention. He has 20 days.

After that, any changes would be so incredibly chaotic as to literally threaten the DemoKKKrats with a 400 EV blowout and probably 2-3 Senate losses.

Is there a pool out there?

If there is, then put my bet on the square that reads "Biden dies of natural causes before the election. A replacement candidate is chosen by the Democrat party."

I will also take the square that says, "Harris is not on the ticket for the 2024 election". The Democrats will run whatever candidates are capable and most willing to follow directions from the Cabal. Harris is not in that collection.

State laws mean nothing. The Democrats have already shown us that in the 2020 "election". And most voters are sheep who can be herded. The Democrats showed us that in the 2022 elections.

We live in those "interesting times" that the Chinese proverbial curse warned us about.

“1,968 is a majority of over 43,000 delegates?”

Dim math.

they violated countless rules of their own making to force him onto the ballot, only now to do a full court press to have a primary of sorts...

Absolutely correct. The democrat nominee will be chosen on July 27, during their virtual convention that they invented to get around the Ohio deadline for placing their candidate’s name on the ballot. The Chicago convention is just for show, it has no bearing on the nomination.
